Dan and Adam came down to visit this weekend, good times were had by all. Adam forgot his wallet in Michigan, but fortunately the arising problems were only minimal. We went to go see the Dalai Llama on Saturday afternoon, which was pretty awesome (even if he didn't descend from the ceiling amongst a pyrotechnic display and play Bob Dylan songs). He's such a radiant person. Everything he said was fairly general, but I would say his message was pretty wise and inspiring. I think he himself is pretty inspiring. Seeing him and how his every gesture was just filled with happiness made me want to become a better Buddhist and a better person. We also went to the winery (which was especially gorgeous with the fall colors right now). Saturday night we went to a first-year party, which wasn't nearly as awkward as it could have been, seeing as I didn't know the girl throwing the party and I brought about 8 people with me. Oops, haha. But we brought one of the best sangrias, so they would have been silly to turn us away. We all drank a little too much sangria and had to walk home, but it all worked out. And then we decided to continue drinking once we got back to my apartment, big surprise there. One of my favorite parts of the evening was when we were having a drunken conversation with one of my neighbors at approx. 3am and, after my neighbor headed inside, he came back out and asked "do you have a cat? there is one crying and wandering the hallway." So we went back, and sure enough my door was open. Good thing Clyde just went back inside, he prettymuch has no interest in the hallway. Then we just chilled in my apartment, with relatively little excitement happening after that, aside from some vomit on Dan's part. Thankfully almost all of it occured in the bathroom and Adam and I were toasty enough to clean up any stray vomit without being grossed out by it. Hopefully the ride back wasn't too unpleasant, due to hang-overs. I wasn't really hung-over, I was just exhausted. I maybe got 10 hours of sleep between Friday and Saturday night. At one point yesterday afternoon, I think I kneeled down to pick something up off the floor and then I just laid down on the floor. That probably lasted for about 20 minutes, just laying there. Awesome. And I couldn't fall back to sleep. But yes, good weekend. Lots of laughing.
I've been enjoying having people staying with me the last couple of weekends. While living alone isn't bad, it really is nice to have company every now and then. Starting tonight at 2am, I'll have a roomate until Thanksgiving. My sister is coming to stay with me until I take her back to Michigan at Thanksgiving. I figured she wouldn't last too long down in Florida with my cousin's shenanigans. I don't think I would have lasted at week--too much marijuana and stupid people for my taste. And my parents will be glad to have her somewhere safe. When I talked to my dad yesterday, he sounded worried. But it should work out well for me--aside from having Heidi here, which should be fun, I get someone to cook and clean for me and to keep Clyde company sometimes when I'm not home. Should work out quite well.
Bah, I have unreasonable amounts of shit to do today and I don't want to do any of it. Also, I rented my first car today and the whole experience makes me really nervous. It kind of makes me realize that I think it will be a while before I'm ready to drive a new car without being freaked out that I will wreck it. I'm totally taking the car back tomorrow after I drive to Indy.
