It’s only Round 1 and I’m already tired of feeling stressed about my team, so here is a spam of unrelenting positivity featuring guys who a) are getting shit done, and b) are on teams that don’t give me palpitations.
Let’s start with James Neal, because I have ridiculous, inner-twelve-year-old-unleashed feelings about him.
He just broke a scoring slump with a sweet double OT goal from an unreal angle.

He’s been a bit rusty since he was traded to Pittsburgh and was cruelly ripped away from his boyfriend roommate, best buddy and centreman Brad Richards who stayed behind in Dallas. Brad Richards, of course, is also BFFs with Vinny Lecavalier since they were teenagers, and Vinny still plays for Tampa. And Nealer just scored that goal on Tampa in Tampa, with Brad in the building watching. Can you say love triangle? Someday I will get around to writing this.
James’ hobbies include growing ginger scruff.
Whipping his hair back and forth.
And licking his lips.
Okay, let’s move on to the West and San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton. He was speared in the gut by LA’s captain last night and it looked painful. Very uncool because Jumbo Joe is a gentle giant, as his goal celebrations show.
Make love, not war. What a role model. And that wasn’t the first time he’s shown that he’s good with the fans. (At 0:20)

He has the same struggles as the rest of us.

(Seriously, that’s me in the morning, except I don’t have a Sharks mug. Or a beard, but hopefully that goes without saying.)
And you have to like a man with a severe aversion to shirts.

Sadly this is the only relevant video I can find on Youtube, but the shirtless interviews are definitely a Thing. If I remember correctly, they actually asked him on After Hours once what his problem with being fully clothed was.
And since we’re talking about the Sharks, let's talk about Ryane Clowe, who is playing like a badass, racking up 4 goals and 3 assists in the playoffs so far. Also, he’s a Newfoundlander, and they are superlative people.
If he ever gets tired of the hockey thing, he has career options. Such as professional arm wrestling.
Waiting tables.

Or perhaps acting as a stunt double for
Bradley Cooper.
