MUSIC DRABBLE MEME 10/10
Series: Prince of Tennis
Pairings: Saeki centric again, and you know how I feel about Sae <3
Summary: This time the catch is... They're all Finnish songs! Sang in Finnish! By Finnish people! <3
I changed the rules. I gave myself the permission. I went and browsed youtube, not my playlist. I always took the next related video from A DIFFERENT ARTIST. some of these songs I had never heard before, some I loved to death, but I have none of these on my computer. Good thing is, that you CAN FIND ALL THESE on 'tube, if you're interested. To my English speaking friends, I can translate the songs if you ask me to.

Vielä on kesää jäljellä - Mamba
The door was slightly ajar, letting the night air in. A silver-haired boy slipped his feet to the cool floor and then tapped to the doorway. The sight of his friend leaning to the railing with a cup of chocolate in his hands made him return to where he had left. He didn’t hide his presence when he joined his friend, but he didn’t bother to promote it either, only wrapped a thin blanket around Fuji’s shoulders. They shared a quiet smile, then continued watching the city sleep.
Levoton tuhkimo - Dingo
Saeki watched them leave, smiling as long as they could see him. Once they couldn’t, he let it fall off, like a thin fabric that hid his real face. He turned to walk to the other direction, where no one he knew was. Not wanting to go home just yet, he entered a 24/7 café just around the corner from his place. Sitting in one of the free tables, and ordered himself coffee, the rich kind, with no sugar or milk. He hadn’t been the one to like coffee, he smiled humourlessly. Actually, he couldn’t stand the taste. It was bitter and disgusting. Yet, he did remember Fuji smiling behind a cup of this same coffee. The kind of smile that was just for him.
Pokka - Irina
There he was, smiling to everyone. Well, it was his birthday, why wouldn’t he be smiling? Still, there had been this strange hope inside him, that he would see something on his face. Something that would tell him that… What? That what had happened meant something to him? But there he was, happy as ever. Showing off right in his face, after he had gone through all the inner turmoil to come to the party. It was thanks to Yuuta, that he was here at all.
He took a glass from the passing tray and stalked over there. Surprised blue eyes met his, and he smiled suddenly, raising his glass and congratulating the birthday boy. When he took his place in the group he wondered why the confused look on the other’s face brought so little satisfaction to him.
Joutsenlaulu - Yö
Saeki sat there, on the side of the sand box with a sad look on his young face. The brothers looked at each other, before sitting down on either side of him, both wrapping an arm around him. They sat there in silence, until finally, the sad boy looked up with teary eyes.
“Do you remember the old lady from the second floor?” He pointed to the three-storey building behind them. “The one who used to watch us play?” They nodded. The creepy lady. “She’s dead. They put her into a black car just now.”
After that they didn’t say anything. When they thought about it, the lady was always alone in the window. They got up after a while, and ran to the Fujis’ house. It didn’t feel the same, you see, playing in the sandbox without the creepy old lady in the window.
Älä unohda minua - Eurooppa 3
The three of them were huddled in Yuuta’s bed, when Koujiro’s mother came in. “It’s time to go, honey.” The boy shook his head numbly. “We’ve been through this already. We’re leaving now.” she reached out for him but he shrugged the hand off as soon as it touched him.
“No! Go without me!” The three boys huddled tighter together, as the brothers didn’t want to see their friend go either. It broke her heart to do it, but she used all her strength to pick up the stubborn boy, and dragged him to the door, while he went against it with all he had. “No! I dun wanna! I dun wanna go! Syu-chan! Yuuta!” She banged the door close, to break up the intense eye connection between the boys. She was worried about the way the boys always bought this rebellious side out of her Koujiro.
When two more doors were closed between the boys, he seemed to slump in-between the last boxes and bags from their house. She had to snap the safety belt in place, because it seemed the boy wouldn’t do it himself. When her husband started the car she had to listen to the dear boy as he sniffed and sobbed in the back seat. Really. She might not have been thrilled about the moving, but Koujiro Needed to get independent from those boys! In the last few years he had been with them non-stop, and it had to tell something, that Koujiro had no other friends beside them.
It was better this way.
Todella Kaunis - Zen café
“I always knew they would end up together,” he heard them say.
“Really, it’s no surprise at all.” Yeah, no pressure or anything.
“Fujiko-chan is practically glowing!” Anyone could see that was true.
“Oh my God, they’re so perfect for each other!” That could also be true, but still, as he was bound to think, there was Nothing perfect in life.
“I think the real surprise is that it took them so long!” Okay, so this was the plan.
Saeki stood up and left the full glass he had been staring at all night on the table. He wasn’t the kind to need alcohol to gather courage for this.
“Fuji!” Everyone went silent, while the other participant of the ‘Perfect Couple’ turned to smile at him.
“What is it, Saeki?” No thinking this time.
“I love you! Get that?!” The smile grew brilliant, while the other guests gaped at them with funny looks.
“Yeah! I love you too!” And that was it.
Unihiekkaa - Egotrippi
It had become a habit at some point, to write two letters every week. One to the older Fuji, and one to the younger. He wrote them every Sunday, and posted them on Mondays, when he took a detour by the post office on his way to school. This Sunday, though, it was different. So much had happened - he had come to realise so much. He had so much write he didn’t know where to start.
“So I finally get why I’m so hung up on you,” he wrote finally. “I have lots to say, but I don’t know how to put it into words. It’s not as simple as ‘I love you’. It never was.” He closed his eyes, and he could see them, as clearly as if it had been just yesterday he had seen them. “At some point I even thought I hated you. But it’s more than that too. And it’s not like it matters anymore.” A bunch of empty words. He said something and contradicted it. If someone would find the letter, they would think he was playing with words.
“We never got to talk about these things, did we? About how we remained so close through all the shit we pulled at everyone, and each other. Yuuta will be mad at us, but at least, let me write about it this once.” He paused to lick the stamp and smoothed it neatly in place, as his heart gave a sickening lurch.
“Why was it so important to you to find someone outside our circle? And why is it, that I never felt the same need, when we always used to feel exactly the same? Of course the whole last sentence is a lie. I was always looking. And you made sure I was always looking at you. See? That’s why I thought I hated you. But I guess I never felt as loved as when you pulled your shit on the people I tried to hang out with.”
The knife kept twisting. “And I guess I never felt as betrayed as when you came back with his ring. Why him when I was yours all along?”
He took the paper and neatly folded it over, then again, until slipping it into the envelope and sealing it, so he couldn’t alter its contents anymore. Then he pulled another empty paper in front of him and stared at the pure white surface for a long time.
“Yuuta, I’m sorry for your brother. Yumiko says you’re not coming out of your room. Wait for me. I’ll be there before the funeral. Let’s talk.”
Tuulee - Don huonot
The way home wasn’t long at all. Ten minutes the most. The grocery bags were heavy, but it was okay. He would only get stronger from hard labour. Hah, his mother would snort at his choice of words, if she ever got to hear them. About five minutes after leaving the Market an especially strong wind picked up, throwing his hair from his face.
He grinned and closed his eyes, his expression turning wistful as he was sure he recognised the scent the wind brought into his nose. He opened his eyes, almost expecting to see the person who always used to wear that scent, but found no one. Shaking his head amusedly he snorted at himself. As far as he knew, Fuji was still in Tokyo. So how was it, that he could smell him all the way to Chiba in a windy day? Must be the love. And he laughed.
Leijat - Kirka
“I remember this…” It was unsettling to find the old kite bound to his home gate. There were so many memories, associated with the childish thing that he had to take a deep breath before unbinding it. It had been his treasure. He and Yuuta had made it while in kinder garden. The worn out golden dress bow he had stolen from his mom, the blue decoration ribbon they had got from Yumiko-neesan, and all the little things they had used to make Their kite the most beautiful in all Chiba. Fuji had said it was beautiful. Fuji had said he wanted it. Saeki had given it to him without telling Yuuta.
Holding the old thing close to his chest, but not too hard to break it, he went to the front door and inside. He had never really regretted giving the kite away. He had regretted the “not telling Yuuta” part about it. Yuuta had been so mad at him… It had taken a long time before the little guy talked to him again. “But why is the kite here now?” He Had given it to Fuji.
In his room he laid the kite on his bed, and carefully untangled the tail. It was maybe fifteen minutes later, that he was alerted to someone’s presence in the room. He had simply sat there, stroking the still smooth surface of the kite. When he looked up he saw the person who had given the kite as much love as he had. “Yuuta, did you bring this with you?” He felt he couldn’t ask how the boy was there, how had he got the kite, when his older brother had guarded it quite jealously the last time he had checked, or how the younger guy had got in without a key. There was the feeling of danger in the question that made his instincts go wild.
A sudden smile lit the face. It startled him. Yet it felt like a real smile.
“Yeah. I brought it back to you.” Ever been in a situation where you had no idea what was going on? He bit his lip.
“Yuuta, you’re making this old man nervous,” he complained, and Yuuta laughed. But his eyes didn’t.
“You better not give it away again, Saeki.” He looked down and stiffened. His fingers! They were stained with something red. He hadn’t thought about it at the moment… But the ribbon they had used to the tail… hadn’t it been yellow before? He had merely accepted it as a trick of his memory, or that time had changed the colour but his fingers…
“Yuuta…” He hadn’t, right? It was just a kite, right? And it was years back, not any recent thing. Yuuta had forgiven him, hadn’t he?
“I don’t want to have to bring it back to you, Saeki.” The boy sat beside him, then laid his head on his lap. “It’s not fair. You’re horrible, Saeki. I’m just a year younger. Not even that! I hate you… I hate you…” He thought he heard a fabric tear, the kind of thin, expensive fabric. Not the kind they had used in the kite, but something else. He sighed and drowned out the pain, stroking Yuuta’s hair gently.
Laivat - Agents ja Jorma Kääriäinen
“Wanna try, Sae? I’ll give you two.” The silver-haired boy laughed and took the joint from the tall guy, taking a drag. “And now we’ve officially baptised you to college life~.” His roommate would be so mad later… Kurobane took the joint from him, giving it back to Chitose before he could take another drag.
“Why do you insist on corrupting him, Chitose? He’s not an experiment!” The other two just laughed at him. Chitose threw an arm around Saeki and squeezed him close, while sticking out his tong at Kurobane.
“Now now, Banetan. I just like Sae.” Saeki showed him off good naturedly. He was feeling really great for a change. He took the joint back and took the second drag that Chitose had promised him.
They were spending the night on the roof of their tall school building. It was an ugly building, but the view was nice. Kurobane had come with them, to stay sober and drive them home when they got trashed. Saeki laughed. Poor Bane-san… Missing out on all the fun… The view was really nice. Saeki got up on the railing and spread his hands. God, he missed home and the beach! The wind never felt the same anywhere else.
“Don’t worry!” he laughed at Kurobane’s panicked words, when the guy told him to come back down. “You know…” he continued in a sombre voice, reaching his hand out to the house he saw over the lower rooftops. “I can almost touch the house Fuji lives in.” Neither of the guys listened to him. When he didn’t get down the other two continued their banter. He looked over his shoulder and smiled his brightest smile ever. “Hey! I’ll be back in a minute, okay?” And then he jumped.
“SAEKI!”
“Fuck, SAE!”
He could hear the wind howling in his ears, like that time in the Niagara Falls with the Fuji brothers. He thought he heard gulls and smiled. The feeling was so incredible. He’d ask Chitose for more of this stuff later. The ocean came, drowning him and then… pain. His whole body was burning, and he choked unable to breathe. Running footsteps, and then…
Nothing.
