Right.
Erm-
First post on LJ. Ever.

First of all, this journal is intended mainly for all things HG/SS related.
To avoid deceiving anybody later, I'll state here and now that don't think I'll be a very active member of the community: my English is not good enough, and it takes me a lot to write a sentence that makes sense; besides, RL is quite hectic ( Read more... )

Please do, I cannot thank you enough.
You know, the bonus in lurking is that when you "come out", so to speak, you have to cope with all you have already - coughs - sneaked about your new acquaintances. All that transpires through their fics and comments, all the times you so much wanted to jump in an interesting topic and scream "what she/he says!", the little RL details you unwillingly picked up about them.
Well, it's a big issue, probably worth several feet long phenomenology essays (I am nearly sure it must have been done before).
Suffice it to say, I am beginning to understand that the main reason why I decided to open a journal was the need for some retribution: since I cannot write any kind of fiction for saving my life, the least I can do is come here and risk my face by babbling.

Sorry for the longish reply, which you probably did not expect nor desire and which would better belong to a separate entry, since it involves most people who welcomed me. Right now, I have just spent an hour thinking of you as "Dicky" - like I have seen so many times before - and trying to fight the compulsion to call you that. And musing about the awkward dynamics of being acquainted with someone surreptitiously.

Well, I think it's lovely that you have de-lurked and decided to come and play! I really do hope you have fun, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Don't be shy about commenting on people's journals and fics - it's how you'll make more friends, after all.

(And should you want to try your hand at drabbling on gs100, you'll find that a very rewarding experience. You say you can't write, but you won't be the first to be sucked in...)

And please DO call me "Dicky"! I'm very proud of my nickname and the way I've been accepted here.
