I don't care for celebratory days unless they are intended to draw attention upon an underrated theme. So, all's well with AIDS days, water days, books days, and gay days and women's day and whatever other minority day. But "mother", "father" - what do these "days" mean?
Please tell me who's supposed to be celebrated today: someone who's conceived (any kind of, from heavenly to hellish sexual intercourse, from how-the-fuck-did-this-happen to painful medical procedures) and experienced the pregnancy process, or someone who has tended to and educated another (or several other) human beings?
Because the label in itself is, frankly, inaccurate.
So, what's the reason for this, and who's the recipient of pink rose-shaped pastries and chocolate, apart from the ads target mummy-who-stuffs-offspring-with-trademark-oatmeal-in-fancy-TV-kitchen?
Besides, I wonder how many "mothers" (whatever it means) in the world are aware that today is supposed to be Their Day.
And, (apparently me iz in pensive/lazy mood - fight with husband might have to do with it)
I've suddenly realised that there is no apparent reason for my obsessing over SSHG. Never had a crush on somebody much older than me. When it comes to maturity, I've never found older men to be better than their younger counterparts: rather the opposite, as they seemed much more stuck to clichés back then, in particular as far as a woman's roles were concerned. More difficult to tame, if I can say so ;)
So, why?
Am currently pondering. Probably I've dismissed the age issue and focussed on the characters, just because they are the most interesting in the HP realm and those I feel more strictly related, one way or another. Actually, I'm not much ready to buy into teacher/student SSHG.
And that's the other epiphany of the day :)
Then, the ABC meme- which I actually did before going all philosophycal *snorts at self*
