[Charles backpedals his steps, walking back to make sure he saw what he thought he saw in the next room....was that Erik asleep? That position couldn't be comfortable but he'd managed it somehow.]

----------------------

[After years of hunting down Shaw and always being alert, Erik learned the value of sleeping whenever he could. Any time. And place. Pushing two chairs close enough together to support his weight wasn't even the most uncomfortable way he'd slept.]

----------------------

[he sighs, Erik that wasn't even a bed. They were in a mansion full of hundreds of beds and he fell asleep in two chairs. Moving carefully over, he scans his mind lightly to make sure he wasn't sick or anything....he really should try to get him to a normal mattress, his back was going to be killing him tomorrow.]

----------------------

[They weren't even those nice cushy chairs, more like the kinds one found in the kitchen. He had his legs across one of them and the other supported his neck and shoulders. It certainly wasn't comfortable, but it was sleep and that's what mattered. How he'd come to be there was simply by merit of reading far too late into the night. Research on electro-magnetic fields.]

----------------------

[that does it, Charles was going to have to get him up onto a mattress or something, this was just unacceptable. he had a whole mansion at their disposal and Erik was "making do" with sleeping on kitchen chairs]

[he walks in, careful to not wake him...moving his fingers to his temple to scan his mind and see how deeply asleep he is.]

----------------------

[He's been there a while, two, maybe three hours. To be honest, he would've gone to his own room, but he only planned to take a quick snooze before returning to his studies. That plan seemed to have gone a bit off-track.]

----------------------

[ok, this might take some clever maneuvering. Charles didn't think Erik would mind, after all soft mattress > hard kitchen chairs. The sleeping mind was actually a lot easier to work with]

[he deftly sneaks in further to Erik's mind] Nothing going on, stay asleep... [he tells him as he carefully moves his feet off of one of the chairs, working him to a standing position]

----------------------

[A quiet murmur slipped from Erik's lips and he shuffled carefully as if to make himself more comfortable. He seemed wholly untroubled by being moved, thanks to Charles' suggestion.]

----------------------

[he closed his eyes, taking on Erik's legs and balance just enough to keep him upright and standing] We're going to walk now...just us two. [his hands never leave his own temple as he moves Erik out a step or two experimentally...if all goes well, Erik should actually take over most of the walking naturally and he'll just have to encourage him in the right direction.]

----------------------

[Walking doesn't seem all that out-of-the ordinary. People do it in their sleep all the time. It's just that someone conscious is at the helm. The first few steps were a uncertain, a little clumsy before he fell into a sort of shuffling gait. Who needs a telekinetic when you can creatively use telepathy?]

----------------------

[walking alongside him, keeping his hand to his temple] Must have been a long day for you, Erik? [he says telepathically, distracting Erik from the fact that he's still asleep. It's much just like they're walking and talking like they normally do, it's just all going on inside Erik's head]

----------------------

[Erik nodded, or rather, he felt like he nodded. The small, conscious part of his mind rambled on as if talking about the research he'd been doing. Physics and electro-magnetics and everything he could ingest about magnetic fields and the applications and manipulations thereof.]

----------------------

You sure have been busy. Learning more about your own abilities, I take it? [he walks them around a chair or two before heading towards one of the empty bedrooms]

----------------------

[Another of those nods that's more mental than physical. It only seemed prudent to research it. Simply manipulating objects felt like it was only scratching the surface of his abilities. There was so much more he could do with a proper understanding and a little creativity.]

----------------------

[he turns the knob of the room and opens the door, flicking on the light. It's one of the guest rooms, still furnished and the bed made. Charles carefully prods Erik towards the bed] Sit back down... [convincing him to lay down might be a little trickier though, he didn't want to force him, so he flips through Erik's memories to find one where he felt safe enough to sleep in a bed. It takes awhile to find but there is one]

----------------------

[Any safe memories are always tucked away in his mind, surrounded by sharpened shards of nightmares wrapped up tightly in barbed wire. Erik kept those things even from himself to stay sharp, cold. But, asleep, those defenses were slacked and it was far easier to find a way to the lighter parts of his memory.

While Charles searched for them, Erik fell heavily onto the bed. It didn't seem odd to him, being that he wasn't fully aware of the scenario to begin with.]

----------------------

[Charles winces, more out of frustration than anything, at those nightmare shards] You're not giving me much to work with... [he murmurs more to himself than actually to Erik]

----------------------

[There were more than a few memories of peaceful sleep: times of victory in his quest that left him so exhausted a good night's sleep was easy to find. Times from his youth before the world fell apart around him when the promise of the future still lay before him and every new day was eagerly awaited.]

----------------------

[Charles navigates his way to one of the younger memories and runs that through before bending to help Erik's legs into the bed. He covers him with a blanket and smiles] Sleep well, my friend.

----------------------

[Certainly when he woke he's wonder how he ended up here and not precariously balanced on two kitchen chairs, but for the time being, Erik tucked into the bed comfortably and otherwise oblivious to having been moved at all.]

----------------------

[Charles sneaks out quietly. He won't tell Erik he moved him unless he asks, no need to spook him about sleeping wherever he wants in the mansion without Charles poking into his mind]

----------------------

[It could possibly come up in the future, but for the time being, Erik's going to enjoy a more comfortable sleep than he would've had without Charles' intervention.]
