November 1, 10:03 a.m.

It had to be a dream.

Chloe felt herself waking up and she fought as hard as she could to stay asleep. She wanted to stay inside the safety of her mind where she knew that Oliver loved her and wanted her as much as she wanted him.

She closed her eyes tighter and pictured the vivid details of Oliver finally making love to her over and over again, their sweat-soaked bodies moving together as their hands and mouths hungrily explored one another, desperate for each touch and craving to taste each other. Her whole body felt like it was on fire at the mere thought and Chloe knew she was fighting a losing battle with sleep.

“Ollie,” she whispered. She buried her face deeper against the pillow, her semi-conscious mind registering that it smelled like him.

Was it possible?

Chloe swallowed hard and pushed the dreamy haze out of her brain, forcing herself to wake up. She realized she was feeling very warm and not just because of the dirty thoughts that were racing through her brain. Her body was warm because there was a much larger body wrapped tightly around her.

“Ollie,” she said again, louder this time.

She heard a muffled response and a few seconds later she felt his lips moving over the back of her neck while his fingers ghosted over her hip. Her body ignited at the slightest contact and she pushed her back tighter against his chest. Oliver didn’t hesitate to shift their positions, easily pushing her back into the mattress as he moved over her, settling himself between her legs.

Chloe smiled up at him, her heart practically bursting with love. It had all been real. She had finally stopped fighting her feelings and told Oliver how she felt. She reached up, running her fingers through his spiky hair. “Your bed head is really cute,” she said with a giggle.

Oliver laughed and pressed his lips against hers. “Your everything is really cute,” he replied against her mouth.

“I’m glad you think so.” Chloe tugged him closer and kissed him with everything she had. Now that she knew the taste of him, she wasn’t sure she’d ever be able to get enough.

“I love you,” Oliver whispered between kisses.

“I love you, too,” Chloe replied.

He shifted slightly, resting his weight on his knees so he didn’t crush her. “Chloe, we should talk.”

Chloe made a face and traced her fingertips over the hard plains of his chest, enjoying the way his skin warmed beneath her touch. “We talk too much, Ollie. There are better ways we can spend our time.” She moved her hand down his stomach.

Oliver caught her hand in his before she could further her exploration and make him forget how to use words. “I know you said you weren’t under a spell last night,” he started.

“Not again, Ollie,” Chloe said, rolling her eyes. She shifted slightly to sit up against the headboard and the sheet slipped down her body.

His eyes darkened with lust and he fought the urge to take her nipple into his mouth. “Chloe, I just think…”

“I think it’s pretty clear what you’re thinking,” Chloe teased. She pulled the sheet over herself and smirked when she saw his face fall. “No pouting, Ollie. You’re the one who wanted to talk,” she reminded him.

“Right,” Oliver muttered. “I just think that we should talk to Zatanna while she’s still in town,” he suggested.

Chloe sighed. She wanted to be irritated with him, but it was hard since he looked so adorable and she wanted to get past this so they could get back to their nonverbal activities. “I thought you trusted me when I told you this is what I wanted.” She gestured between them and raised an eyebrow. “Or did I have sex with someone else three times last night? Maybe you’re the one who’s under a spell.”

“Very funny,” Oliver retorted. He tugged the sheet aside and reached for her, pulling her body flush against his. She trembled in his arms and he dipped his head to kiss her softly. “I just want to make sure that you’re okay.”

“I’m better than okay,” Chloe insisted. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked into his eyes. “Ollie, this is where I want to be.”

“Good,” Oliver replied. He kissed her again, pulling back slightly when they were both breathless. “Because I meant it when I said I was never letting you leave.”

November 1, 12:58 p.m.

Chloe couldn’t stop smiling as she made her way down to the kitchen a few hours later while Oliver was finishing up his second shower of the morning. She bit her lip thinking about the first shower they had taken together and how getting clean had been the furthest thing from their minds.

She started the coffee, tapping her fingers impatiently against the counter as she waited for it to brew. Her thoughts shifted back to Oliver and she was tempted to just go back upstairs and join him in the shower again. Her eyes drifted closed as she thought about the way the beads of water rolled off his thick muscles and the feel of his hands on her slippery skin.

The coffeepot beeped, bringing Chloe back to reality. She grabbed a mug from the cabinet and as she poured the liquid into it, she realized this was the longest she’d ever been awake without coffee in her system and she hadn’t even missed it.

Coffee had nothing on sex with Oliver Queen.

Not that she would be sharing that particular musing with him any time soon, Chloe thought as she carried her mug into the living room. Oliver’s ego was big enough already without her adding to it.

She heard the elevator rumbling to life just as Oliver made his way downstairs dressed in jeans and a gray t-shirt. “I’m surprised the team managed to stay away from the video games this long,” he commented.

Chloe just smiled at him and took a seat on the couch. The elevator doors opened a few seconds later and Zatanna stepped out wearing her long black coat again.

“Good afternoon,” she said.

“Zatanna, what a surprise,” Oliver replied flatly as his heart began to pound against his ribs. He’d actually started to let himself believe Chloe when she insisted that she wasn’t under a spell. Zatanna standing in his living room pretty much confirmed that he’d been right all along.

Chloe saw the expression on his face, set her coffee down on the table and stood up, moving to Oliver’s side and wrapping her arm around his waist. “I called Zatanna and asked her to stop by,” she explained. She rubbed her other hand over his arm reassuringly. “I had a feeling you weren’t going to let this go until you talked to her.”

That was the Chloe he knew and loved, the one who thought of everything and didn’t rest until all the facts were sorted out, Oliver thought, relieved. At least he knew for sure that the spell was out of her system. He just hoped she wasn’t too angry when Zatanna confirmed his suspicions.

Oliver pressed a kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin before he turned back to Zatanna. “All right, what did you do to Chloe?” he asked.

Zatanna looked back and forth between them with an amused smile on her face. “You two seem pretty happy,” she commented.

“We are,” Chloe agreed. She rested her head against Oliver’s shoulder. “But Ollie is convinced that you put a spell on me yesterday and that’s the only reason we’re together now.”

“It’s not the only reason,” Oliver disagreed. He cupped Chloe’s chin in his hand and tilted her face toward him. “We’re together because we love each other,” he reminded her. “But the spell she put on you is what made you admit that.”

“There was no spell,” Chloe replied adamantly. She glanced at Zatanna. “Please tell him,” she said.

Zatanna nodded. “Chloe’s right,” she said. “I didn’t put a spell on her.”

“Ha!” Chloe cried triumphantly. She squeezed his arm. “I told you I wasn’t under a spell.”

Oliver’s jaw dropped and he looked back and forth between the two women in disbelief. Chloe was smirking at him and Zatanna looked like she was trying really hard not to laugh. He focused on Chloe.

“But you weren’t acting like yourself,” he pointed out. His eyes widened as another possibility occurred to him. “Could it have been red K?” he asked.

“Oliver!” Chloe elbowed him in the side, her green eyes narrowing as she moved to stand in front of him. “It was Halloween and I was trapped with the man I love who happened to be wearing skintight leather. Can you blame me?” she demanded.

He couldn’t resist smirking at her. “No, I can’t,” he said. His hands settled on her hips, squeezing her gently. “Any more than you can blame me for my reaction to that poor excuse for a dress you were wearing.” He leaned in close, his mouth brushing against her ear. “Do you still have that by the way?”

She giggled, painfully aware that Zatanna was still in the room with them. “It’s at home, but I have to return it to the costume place.”

Oliver shook his head. “You’re keeping it. Tell them to bill it to me.” He kissed her softly and pulled back before his hormones could take over. “But we both know that’s not the whole story, Chloe.”

She raised her eyebrows in confusion, but not before the tiniest flash of guilt crossed her face. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said.

“Chloe,” Oliver said, drawing out the syllables in her name. He’d seen the look in her eyes and knew he was onto something.

“Fine,” Chloe muttered. She knew those eyes of his never missed anything. She bit her lip and forced herself to look up at him. “Maybe the reason I was so…bold last night was because I knew you’d think I was under a spell.” She felt her face flush with embarrassment.

Oliver’s brow furrowed in confusion as he tried to process what she was saying. “Wait…even though you kept telling me you weren’t under a spell, you wanted me to think you were? That doesn’t make sense, Chloe.”

Chloe shook her head. “That’s not really it.” Her cheeks grew hotter and she knew she had to tell him the whole story. “Lois had been acting weird ever since our movie night and she kept saying all this stuff to me about true love and what’s right in front of my face and missing chances. I just thought it was Lois being Lois until Zatanna showed up at Watchtower.”

She turned to the magician who had silently been taking in the whole conversation with her amused smile still in place. “Lois asked you to come to town and put a spell on me, didn’t she?”

Zatanna’s smile became sheepish. “Lois might have mentioned something about you two, but I never agreed to put a spell on you.”

“But Lois assumed you did,” Chloe guessed. She turned back to Oliver who still looked confused. “Ollie, I knew what Lois was doing so I went along with the costume and I may have made it seem like I was flirting with Clark to scare her a little,” she rushed over that part and continued. “But then I saw the way you were looking at me and I decided to just go with it.”

She bit her lip again and lowered her eyes from his. “I liked being close to you without having to worry that maybe it was too close or I was crossing that invisible line because I could just blame it on Halloween or the spell if you didn’t see me that way. But once we fell through the trapdoor, I wasn’t interested in pretending anymore. Of course that’s when I realized my plan had backfired and you believed it no matter how many times I told you it wasn’t a spell.”

Oliver laughed. Her crazy logic only made him love her more. “Chloe, look at me,” he said. When she did, he brushed her hair back from her face and kissed her softly. “That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard you say. Did you really doubt that I didn’t feel the same way? I’m pretty sure everyone we’ve ever met knows how I feel about you.” He glanced at Zatanna for confirmation.

She nodded. “It’s true,” she agreed.

Chloe shook her head. “I didn’t doubt your feelings.” She took a deep breath and let the words tumble out before she could change her mind. “I’m not good at the whole being sexy thing and I was scared you wouldn’t be interested in me that way.”

Oliver’s eyes widened. “Chloe, you’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever met.”

She snorted. “Nice try, Ollie, but you can save the charm on this one. I just wanted everything in the open.”

“Chloe,” Oliver said firmly. He cupped her face in his hands and forced her to look at him. “Would I lie to you?”

“No,” Chloe said. “But you would try to spare my feelings.”

He leaned down until his forehead was pressed against hers. “Do you have any idea what you do to me? You walk around in these ridiculous skirts and the heels and the way your legs move…I feel like you’re trying to torture me. Sometimes when I’m on patrol and we’re talking on the com, the sound of your laugh…all I can think about is coming home and having my way with you. Except I couldn’t because we were just friends,” he muttered. “God, Chloe, do you have any idea how much sleep I’ve lost fantasizing about you?”

It was Chloe’s turn to stare at him in stunned disbelief. She opened and closed her mouth a few times, but her brain had stopped working and all she could think about was how much she wanted to touch him. “Ollie, I…”

Zatanna coughed loudly.

“Right,” Chloe muttered. She buried her face in Oliver’s chest and tried to compose herself.

Oliver was more direct. “Thanks for stopping by and clearing things up, Zatanna. You’ll have to visit again next time you’re in town,” he said.

“Oliver!” Chloe detached herself from him and turned to face Zatanna. “You don’t have to leave,” she said. “I just wanted you to tell him that no magic was used.”

“That’s not completely accurate,” Zatanna admitted.

“Come again?” Oliver asked.

Chloe’s eyes narrowed. “Zatanna, you already said you didn’t put a spell on me. I would know if you had,” she said.

“It wasn’t a spell,” Zatanna said. “I simply amplified a suggestion for a minute. Do you remember what I said to you before I left Watchtower?” she asked.

Chloe frowned as she tried to remember. “You said something about not forgetting my needs while I was taking care of others.”

Zatanna nodded. “What do you remember about that moment?” she asked.

Chloe felt Oliver’s hand on her shoulder as she concentrated on the memory. She had heard Zatanna’s words echoing in her head and mixing with what Lois had been saying about ending up alone because the person she loved had stopped waiting and moved onto someone else. Another detail popped of the afternoon popped into her mind. “You touched Oliver when you walked out,” she recalled.

“She did?” Oliver sounded confused.

“Yes,” Chloe said. “She put her hand on your arm when she walked by.” It was the kind of innocent gesture between friends that she normally wouldn’t have thought twice about if she noticed at all. But at the time, it had bothered her especially knowing they were leaving together. Chloe’s eyes met Zatanna’s. “You did that on purpose because you knew what I was thinking.”

Zatanna nodded and offered an apologetic smile. “As I said, I was amplifying the moment. But the magic only lasted for that moment. Anything that happened after that came from you,” she explained.

Chloe nodded and Oliver pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Thanks, Zatanna,” she said sincerely.

“You’re welcome, but I really didn’t do anything,” Zatanna insisted. “I do need to get going. I’m glad things worked out for both of you.”

“Us too,” Oliver agreed. He wrapped his arms around Chloe’s waist and pulled her back against him.

She rested her hands over his and smiled at Zatanna. “Do me a favor,” she said. “Don’t tell Lois any of this.”

Zatanna laughed. “I wouldn’t want to get in the middle of that.” She waved and stepped into the elevator.

Oliver kissed her neck. “What are you planning, Sidekick?” he asked.

Chloe turned in his arms and smiled up at him. “I haven’t decided yet, but I’m not about to let Lois think it was okay to ask Zatanna to put a spell on me.” She wrapped her arms around his waist. “But enough about Lois,” she said. “Do you have plans for the afternoon, Mr. Queen?”

Oliver nodded. “I do,” he said. He lifted her into his arms, grinning when she squealed. “I plan to have my way with you. Often,” he added as he carried her toward the stairs.

“Good plan,” Chloe said. She pressed her lips against his. “I love you, Ollie.”

“I love you too, Chloe.” Oliver paused in the doorway of his room to kiss her again, deeper this time, his tongue sweeping over hers. The kiss broke and he rubbed his nose against hers. “I want you to move in with me,” he said.

Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise, but she nodded. “Okay.”

Oliver blinked. “Really?” he asked.

Chloe laughed and pressed a kiss to his chin dimple. She was never going to get tired of finally being able to do that. “Don’t look so surprised, Ollie. You’re the one who asked the question,” she said.

“I did,” Oliver agreed. He carried her to the bed and set her down gently, pulling his shirt over his head and tossing it on the floor before he joined her. “I just figured I would have to spend some time convincing you,” he said.

“Sorry to disappoint,” Chloe replied. She slid her hands over his bare chest and locked them around his neck, pulling him closer. “I don’t want to waste any more time,” she admitted softly.

“Glad to hear it,” Oliver replied. He covered her mouth with his and wondered how she would react to the ring that had been sitting in his top drawer.

That was a question for another day.

The End.
