soccer && bruises

hullo. so i play soccer and i never really liked it that much but now this year i really like it. =]

so this season started around end of march? early april? yeah i was pretty pumped. *insert sarcasm here* actually, i was pretty much dreading it. =P like, legit.  (TOO LEGIT! TOO LEGIT TO QUIT!) i mostly wasnt excited because soccer in general involved a lot of long distance running opposed to my favorite, most comfortable (i guess you would say) sport basketball, as well as short sprints. and so what does that call for? all together now.. CONDITIONING! yay! dude, no. and lucky for me i have 2 physical trainers as well as 3 coaches!

for those who cant do the math or who just cant read, that's 5 people in charge. 5 people who believe conditioning is veryy important. and somehow the 15 of us can't really oppose that belief. =\

soo. at the end of each practice we are promised a cool down.

cool down: noun
1. An unavoidable exercise displayed at the end of my soccer practices ranging from 5-7 minutes consisting of either sprints, jogging, push ups, sit ups, lunges and sometimes all.
2. A hellish activity that makes me feel like puking, and sometimes succeeds in doing so.

can you understand why sense of dread? .. how about now?

anyway. so this season practices have been tough and cool downs- tougher. mehh. but that's okay. we do them, ignore the urge to puke and punch our coaches in the face, stretch and leave practice in a pissoff mood. but upon waking up the next morning you actually feel good that you did them. so maybe, not so bad eh?

well i was talking about how i came to like soccer this year.. so! this season i've been playing striker which is unusual considering i've played defense since what, kindergarten? so it really wasn't comfortable for me at all but i've actually grown to like it. =] aaand.. i scored probably the best goal of my life, making the score 1-0 in a tough game a few weeks ago. =D

my team has been playing really fantastic this season and not to mention, a blast- so our record as of this past saturday is 4-0 with the first 2 games being shutouts. woohoo. im excited and i hope that we can stay undefeated for a little while longer.

there's really only one downside to playing so great and intense as i do. haha. and that my friends are the little injuries. =P nothing serious or life-threatening but i have multiple little cuts, scratches, blisters (i performed surgery on my big toe just yesterday..dont ask) and of course- bruises.

i really dont have a problem with bruises. they make you look tough. the only thing is that they hurt kill! every time i go up the stairs or a friend happens to touch it by accident i just cringe and feel like yelling. honestly, i won't lie, there's a part of me that loooves having bruises. and yes, poking them. it's weird. it hurts. i love it. XD

so this past wednesday i had a make up game in place of my usually scheduled practice WOOOOHOOOO and we played a really tough team. very aggressive, very physical game right? so our keeper was taking a goal kick and i was playing striker on the right side with the opposing team's defensive player right on my back, and i raised my hand to signal to her ya know, kick it over here.

so she took the punt and it came straight to me (i love our keeper) but it got some serious air. so i'm running to get underneath it and the defensive player is running right with me. i figure she's too close for me to head it or raise my leg up because it would most likely be called as a dangerous play- so i decide to just raise my left thigh up high enough to cradle the ball as it drops. but the girl with me decided to raise her entire foot up to get a piece of it and ends up completely kicking me. ouch. i felt like my leg was gonna give out. =P

and blah, blah, blah the game goes on. two days later i was wearing shorts around the house when my mum goes, "Oh my god! what on earth did you do to your leg?" so i look down and there on my thigh is this massive, blue bruise complete with a nice little scratch on top of it. woahh.

dudee, this sucker kills. its not even fun to poke. =[  more importantly, it is soooo noticeable! grr. it's pretty much purple. it's gonna eat me. like, woah.

soo today it's kind of fading away and doesnt hurt as much when i poke it so it's kind of a bitter sweet moment. XD

but that's it for now. i just got in from the gym so i needa shower and do homework. eww. bye
dude this is ridiculously long. have fun reading. =P

puke, soccer, bruises, coaches, conditioning, ouch
