I hate politics but I really wanna talk about the presidential race. At this point who do you think you're voting for? Right now I'm frustrated because I think a Republican would be beneficial to the checks and balances system, because congress is democratic. However, McCain is unqualified, surely. He went straight into the military after high ( Read more... )

Even though Obama has a TON of support from younger voters (the man is pretty hip, you must admit), I don't think it's at all probable that he'll win the election, and that frustrates me so much because the last thing America needs is another conservative bastard president (AKA another George W. Bush. Ew.). But there's no way in hell old white America (AKA THE SOUTH) will let a black man take the office, HEAVEN FORBID there be any progress in this god awful country. I really think Obama could turn this country around, but he's such an idealist, and too much of anything, including optimism, can be a bad thing.

Anyway, I'm not voting because I'm too lazy to register.
He haw.

bahahah I luckily ran into someone in ann arbor who was registering people to vote or I probably would've forgotten.

Right now Obama is doing really well because there are a lot of people who are like "WOW WE CANNOT LET THAT SHIT HAPPEN AGAIN." I'm sure it'll be a close and interesting race but I just can't fathom a man in office who is maybe as educated on government and foreign relations as I am.

Is it just me or would it be nice to go to another country and not be so embarrassed to say you're from America?

we should be more worried about being liked by everybody else rather than fix our shit?

and i don't care how much our leader sucks, the president is always gonna suck a little and other countries hate america anyway so they're gonna find something to hate on us about. i hate to say it because it's soooo corny but i really am proud to be american.

I'm just saying I would rather have an economic emergency and be like "OH SHI-" than have a world war.

just because the majority of the world likes obama doesn't mean we won't have another world war. radical islamists don't like obama, they don't like america and they are gonna start a bunch of shit. a new president isn't gonna change that.

and i don't feel particularly ok with the fact that he sat through 20 years of that racist reverends' sermons and has a bunch of questionable people on his team and a bunch of questionable friends

I have a lot of questionable friends but that doesn't make me a questionable person necessarily. Everyone who manages to get this far in the presidential race has probably done a lot of immoral things, but I'm really looking to not get bombed.

yes but in politics it matters who your friends are. and no matter what, with anyone, your friends have an influence on you be it little or big influence.
