For those who haven't seen them, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset movies tell a story of an ordinary French girl meeting an ordinary American guy. The whole story evolves around the conversations they have with each other - light, deep, funny & hilarious, brutally honest & sexy. Both movies are the most romantically realistic ones I have ever seen.
What amazed me, is the detailed acting. Every smile, every sigh, every gesture was meaningful - everything was to the point. Awesome work - in the very beginning you really get the impression that these people have never met before in their life, that they are really thinking about what to say next to one another, and not simply reproducing and acting out the text they have learned.
The second movie shows how they meet again in 9 years. All the awkwardness of the situation is there. You can actually see how they feel, although they don't discuss it. That's what I call a great "show, not tell" kind of acting.
I loved the movie. I loved the idea. I loved that both of the movies ended weirdly, leaving you to your own thoughts and ideas about what actually happens later.
I hate stupid cheesy i-love-you kind of romance, but these movies proved that romance CAN be realistic. DO WATCH if you haven't. Everyone.
