I was exactly the same! That ending was quite a mindfuck. Though you might want to put this entry under an LJ cut for those who haven't yet seen this masterpiece. That way they can be just as horrified as we were! :-P

Apparently after the screen fates to black you can hear the totem drop. The hint of one of the actors I think was "use your ears not your eyes" My theatre everyone started groaning at the end so I couldn't hear anything...now I need to go watch it again.
Well, once they get to the end and see the top spinning I think they'll figure it out. LOL.

It makes perfect sense! I definitely went back and forth for a while...I'm just determined to have a happy ending! XD But yes, I can definitely see how it could be both.
