1. Crop & sharpen your base.

2. Make a new curves layer with the following settings:
First point:
Input: 52
Output: 67

Second point:
Input: 182
Output: 197

This will make the image a bit lighter.

3. Make a new selective color layer with the following settings:
Reds: -100 +100 -42 +21
Yellows: -100 -16 -36 -55
Cyans: +100 0 0 0
Whites: 0 0 0 -51
Neutrals: -13 +17 +15 -15
Blacks: 0 0 0 +11

This will add a pink tone to the icon.

4. Make a new hue/saturation layer with the following settings:
Master: 0 +7 0
This will give the image more saturation.

5. Make a new selective color layer with the following settings:
Reds: -24 +6 +100 0
Yellows: -12 -1 +31 0
Cyans: +100 0 0 0
Neutrals: +1 -22 -16 -21
This will remove a bunch of the reds that were added in step 3 and add more yellows. yes, it looks bad. however, we're about to fix it!

6. Make a new levels layer with the following settings:
RGB
Input: 31 1.03 255
Output: 0 255
This should make the image look a little better because this step darkens the blacks in the image/adds more contrast.

7. Make a new selective color layer with the following settings:
Reds: -67 +79 -52 -5
Yellows: +44 +94 +94 -68
Greens: +17 -100 +48 +47
Cyans: +100 -20 -25 0
Magentas: +100 +100 +100 0
Whites: -100 -19 -14 -30
Neutrals: +24 +17 +30 -8
This will add a bunch of reds/magentas to the icon. It won't look that good, again. But this will be fixed soon :)

8. Make a new channel mixer layer with the following settings:
Red: +92 +14 -16
Green: 0 +94 0
Blue: 0 0 +98
This will make the whites in the image have a bluish tone. This will also tone down the reds.

9. Make a new selective color layer with the following settings:
Reds: +52 +30 -39 +20
Yellows: +2 +6 +33 0
Greens: +25 0 +57 0
Whites: -58 -47 -44 -72
Neutrals: -32 -27 -9 +14
This mostly just makes the whites in the image brighter.

10. Make a new color fill layer with #000511. Set the layer mode to Difference 100% opacity. This will add a nice yellowish tone to the image.

11. Make another new color fill layer with #3C2729. Set this layer to Exclusion 55% opacity. This tones down everything and adds a greyish color.

12. Make a new color fill layer with #91582E. Set this to soft light 64% opacity. This adds more yellows & contrast to the image.

13. One last color fill layer! Fill it with #513639 and set it to Lighten 69% opacity. This makes the blacks in the image have a dull purple tone.

14. Lastly, duplicate your base and drag it all the way to the top in the layers palette. Set it to Soft Light 78% opacity. This will add more contrast.

Hooray! Hope you like the effect :)
