Among the Iwi of Pulau Tengkorak, a wapisudu is a specific type of dream: a dream that heralds illness, and that is also believed to suggest causes and treatments.
This morning, a wapisudu. Along a curved stretch of highway familiar to me, there is a hill. On the face of the hill, utility workers, tree-wreckers, were working. The face of the hill was covered with a stubble of dead or broken saplings. Along the crest of the hill, a line of large and hideous trees. These all had bark facing the road that looked like flayed flesh.
This morning, another episode of AFib. I will never get out of here.
