So I've been in Israel for a week and my hebrew is still pretty garbage, but it's getting a little better bit by bit. Yesterday was Tel Aviv's 100th birthday so I met up with some of Sam's American friends and spent the day on the beach. I met up with Shira and we had beer and Ice cream, what a combination. There were crazy resturaunts on the beach that had chairs and tables in the sand, you just sit down while their pumping techno and dance music and a waiter comes over. It was so foreign to me because we don't have anything like that in Seattle. I wonder if they do in warmer states. My favorite part of the day was walking on the beach with the sand between my toes, but I really wish we could have swam -- there was sewer leakage in the water and a 2 week water hazard. OH - I found a leopard gecko in Sam's house. He was half squished, but I saved him from Sam and put him outside. I hope his squished legs miraculously recover and he lives a marvelous lizard life. I really miss Geico, my old leopard gecko. And I miss Donatello and Raphael for that matter.
Tomorrow I am going down to Jerusalem by bus, all by myself. First solo bus experiance, every other one I've had someone with me or we've taken taxi or sharut. I'm not too worried except I will be transfering busses in Tel Aviv and I AM worried that I will get lost transfering... wish me luck. I'll be hanging out with Becca in Jerusalem and staying with her for a day or two, which is really exciting as I haven't seen her in ages.. We might go on a hike with jumping off cliffs involved? That's still up in the air. Then Wednesday I'm headed off to Rishon to stay with Shira for half a week and have sedar at her house. I've only seen Shira once since I've been in Israel, mainly because she works these wacky army hours, but she has the majority of the next week off so it will be nice to spend real time with her.
