im writing this entry just as elyse and me are about to leave tokyo for hakata. my mom is being really understanding about me and elyse coming home drunk every night, it's pretty funny actually. we're about to get on the bullet train, which i love, it goes almost as fast as an airplane and you can buy bento on it. my mom bought us rail passes which are good for all japanese railways, so we're stopping in osaka and trying to cram some more cultural activities into our schedule. yesterday we went to kamakura where the daibutsu, or great buddha is located. it was amazing, this thing was cast in like, 1270 and they still let people crawl inside his belly. then we hiked up this mountain to the most beautiful shinto shrine where we washed our money in a spring to purify it and then dry in over insence. i washed my credit card, and a bunch of young japanese guys laughed at me. after that we went to this punk bar and chilled with these drunk kids, its funny, late at night in the really young, happening areas of town you just see people passed out on the streets with all their friends laughing at them. elyse got mad drunk thursday at this place where the drinks were mad cheap (at least by tokyo standards) my mom is leaving japan for new york, im kinda glad we're gonna be alone, but i really am gonna miss her, especially at my grandmas house, who doesnt speak a lick of english gotta go pea\ce
