Join me for...
An Evening at Morimoto's

A full size photo of the main dining room. The lights slowly changed colors over the course of the evening.

Official website, Morimoto's Restaurant

We were seated, and my mom and I each ordered a version of Omakase (chef's choice), a 9 course tasting menu of the flavors of the restaurant. I ordered a tier higher than she did, because it's my birthday and I wanted to celebrate, damnit. :D

Here is the first course...

(It took a few courses to get used to the tricky lighting, sorry some of the photos suck).
The two above pics are:
Otoro (fatty tuna) raw with crispy things and garlic, in a brown sauce (I kept track of the ingredients as best I could but i missed alot of details x_x) My mom's dish was the same thing but with yellowtail. No words can adequately describe the deliciousness. Forgot to take a photo of the yellowtail dish x_x
Both dishes came with a yamamoto (mountain peach) which was absolutely delicious...tasted like candy.

Second course: Oysters

I ate two of them before I remembered to take a picture (oops)... The remaining oyster is topped with Japanese salsa, the other two had ceviche and thai fish sauce. I'm not a big fan of oysters but I adored these.

Third course: Carpaccio

raw thinly sliced with yuzu soy, hot oil, and mitsuba leaf. Mine (top) was scallop, mom's (bottom) was sea bass. Warmed to perfection. Our server's personal favorite course and I could see why...it was just...ommm *droool*. Melted in your mouth. Words fail me again.

Fourth course: Sashimi Salad

Mine (top): Striped jackfish and mixed greens with a light, slightly tangy dressing.
Mom's (bottom): Kingfish and mixed greens with a darker, rich/flavorful dressing.

Fifth course: Lemon Mint Soda!

To cleanse the palate, they said. Was tasty.

Sixth course: Lobster Epice and Soba Carbonara

Mine (and omfg it was heavenly): Eight Spice Lobster with vegetables in a delightfully creamy sauce. A side of lemon yogurt if it was too spicy (the spice was just right, but the yogurt was still delicious :D)

Mom's: Soba noodle, edamame, bacon, scallops, parmesan, truffle oil. Also proof that my camera pwns my mom's camera.

Seventh Course

Mine: American Kobe beef with mushrooms(I didn't catch what kind) greens and sauce. Ridiculously good.

Mom's: Cod with some kind of peppers and candied olives. I thought it tasted like cornbread.

Eighth Course: SUSHI TIME!
Both of us ate a piece before remembering to take pictures c_c

Mine: maguro, hamachi, aji, sima aji and mirugai (tuna, yellowtail,
jackfish, striped jack, giant clam). (Tuna not shown.)

My mom's sushi, I think the tuna is also missing. Chu-toro and she doesn't remember what else, probably similar to mine though.

Before the final course, here's what my dad ordered for dinner:

Steak with vegetable tempura and dipping sauce.
We forgot to take a picture of his appetizer before it was gone, but it was:
10 hour pork ‘kakuni’ braised pork belly with hot rice porridge.

Ninth Course: Dessert!

Black forest cake with sour cream sauce and a sour cherry soaked in kirsch on top, garnished with cherry gelatin bits in the shape of a cherry tree. Complete with birthday candle :D

Steal a peek at the dessert menu:

No japanese meal is complete without green tea, and theirs is really good.

^ my mom pouring a cup.

And one last pic: the buttplug lamps that graced every table.

I hope you enjoy. But there's no way you will as much as I did.

Will be x-posted to food_porn later ^.^
