It's beautiful weather here - only a little below freezing with tons of snow which couldn't be more perfect. It's so invigorating walking around. So much of Saskatoon is so beautiful, which came flooding back to me even on the airplane out the window. The bridges, the partially frozen river, the frosted trees, the huge skyline... I'm staying with icg665 for a few days to visit friends and do some errands (like say shopping) here before heading back to Edmonton where pantsandthecity and seanthelaw are waiting with house festive and sparkling for family.
In other news, I found out from the local clinic here that I ACTUALLY have 2 fracturued vertebrae (not 1 as I was originally told) but that the course of action I'm on is fine. It will take probably at least a couple of months before I get a solid idea if it's healing that well or not.
And finally, today's hilariously over-the-top good news story that unfortunately also reconfirms everyone's worst fears about my stupidity...I went to the bank to deposit a money order of US funds into my Royal Bank account to pay for coming student loan payments. I couldn't find my bank card, so they had to look up my account using my SIN# and vital info. In so doing, they found out that an account I had in Alberta had not transferred to Montreal as I had originally thought....it had stayed open and was eventually labelled dormant. THERE WAS $1400 STILL IN IT. They had me fill out paperwork, and lo and behold, in 4 or 5 days - I am $1400 richer. I'm still in disbelief that a) I could possibly have been that stupid and b) I have all this new cash. Now, granted the bank transfer and move happened after my last serious seizure where I had been burned seriously and things were generally chaotic. I didn't get accepted to McGill and then move until August. Anyway, I think I may end up using the money to help pay for health insurance since my parents were going to foot a lot of the bill for me in the next few months.
