So I haven't posted in a while...

Last weekend was a beating. I had gigs or paid rehearsals on Friday night, Saturday morning/afternoon/evening and Sunday morning/evening, in addition to gigs the previous Mon & Wed nights plus my usual choir day job. It was a bit much, but I saved some money at least.

Some interesting experiences there:
- Saturday, playing at Brooklyn Cafe in Dallas, a club I knew to have a primarily black clientele...turns out I was one of about 3 white dudes in the entire place. Plus, I was the only white guy in the band that night. I wasn't vibed or anything, and it was fine, but it gives me a new appreciation for how it feels being in an extreme visible minority situation. The gig itself was good for the most part, but I was too tired and it was a 5 hour gig which is too long.
- Sunday night (and some of the rehearsal) was devoted to this bizarre show at a Methodist church called, originally, "Hallelujah." The original recording I have of it is awesome - one of the funniest things I've ever heard. It involves a lot of spoken narration in overly earnest Southern accents over top of some really 70s-adult contemporary style arrangements (think Manilow/Carpenters vibe).

Actually, more on all of this later...I gotta get lunch.
