Thelma was there when Cassie awoke.

Much to Thelma's surprise.

"Hi," she said.

"Hi," Cassie returned, giving Thelma a slight sleepy smile.

"Well, I've got good news and bad news," Thelma said, sadly.

[ihatefrills]

Cassie sighed. That wasn't exactly an encouraging thing to wake up to. "Does that mean I get to chose which I want first?"

"Yes," Thelma said. "Sorry to break it to you right away, but, well... I believe in tough love."

"So I see." Cassie shifted a bit, wincing a little in discomfort. "Might as well get it over and done with, then."

[inshiningarmour]

"Well, good news is, I'm not gone forever, and you're not pregnant," Thelma said. "Bad news is... the baby must still be alive."

Cassie cocked her head in confusion, "What makes you think that?"

[inshiningarmour]

"There was this slight bit in the book about how if Azazeal's child were to die, the rift between the worlds of the dead and the living would heal... meaning no more ghosts," Thelma said.

"Thats a big bit not to tell me," Cassie said after a moment, forehead furrowing into a frown.

[inshiningarmour]

"I didn't want you to... I figured it'd be easier to do the right thing, if you didn't know," Thelma said.

[ihatefrills]

"You still should've said something," Cassie muttered, knowing full well that she wouldn't have been able to do what she did had she known that.

[inshiningarmour]

"...well, now you know why I was having trouble keeping it together," Thelma said. "But now, I think we might need to be more concerned about the release of 200 Nephilim."

Cassie rubbed her forehead. Nothing like worrying about soul eating demons when you're trying to recover from general anaesthetic to make you agitated.

"We'll just have to deal with that when it comes to it," she said. "I don't see what else we can do."

"Yep," Thelma said. "Instead, why don't we... worry about how we're celebrating Christmas tonight."

"So, how are we celebrating Christmas tonight?" Cassie asked, arching an eyebrow. She was quite happy to delay thinking about the bad things until another day.
