There was just a great court
decision passed down by the U.S. Court of Appeals basically saying that the current FCC rules regarding indecency are "arbitrary and capricious", and told them to change their rules. The issue at hand was about the evil words Fuck and Shit being said on live network television.
Censorship sucks (as some livejournal users
recently found out), but censorship at the hands of our government is particularly galling.
Here's a quote from FCC Chairman Kevin Martin in response to this court ruling that "brilliantly" sums up the governments intentions, and why it pisses me off:
"If we can't restrict the use (of the two obscenities) during prime time, Hollywood will be able to say anything they want, whenever they want,"
Basically, he's worried about people saying what they what, whenever they want. Hey fuck face,
read this.
