The British Jumper vs. The American Jumper

When I first started watching the series, I couldn't figure out why people kept calling John's sweater a "jumper." As an American, I sort of sat there and went, "THAT is not a jumper." Which brought to mind the hilarious mental image I now feel obligated to share.
