[On the way to the battlefield, Thomas noticed shapes moving around in the shadows. He was being followed.]

[He freezes as he noticed the shadows, and moved more cautiously. There it is!]

Eek!

[He wasn't just imagining it! The young man started to run, trying to get to someone he knows. Those shadows, could they be Revya's minions, or some nasty demon taking advantage of the distraction?]

[Either they're keeping up with him or there's more of them waiting for him ahead. Whatever the case, he's not losing his pursuers, and they seem to be getting closer all the time.]

[Thomas pants, and his legs started to feel the burn of pushing himself. He drops the bag so he can unsheathe his sword, his heart pounding heavily in his ears]

Uuunf, Uuunf... I... I wo-won't go do-down easy. Ba-back off!

[Out of the shadows, a lone zergling approaches. It looks at Thomas curiouly, and emits a soft chittering sound.]

[He scurries back, weapon pointed at the bizarre critter]

Wha...what are you?

Nnh...! Stay back!

[The Zerling just continues to stare. It hisses again, but the hissing is much deeper and louder...and coming from behind Thomas.

Maybe that's not the zergling hissing this time.]

[He stiffens at that second hiss. Oh no... oh goddess no! With a startled cry, he swung to see what's behind him, blindly swinging his weapon in a diagonal strike]

YEA-YAH!

[The Hydralisk that had been sneaking up behind recoiled as the sword scored a shallow wound across it's stomach. This was not how prey was supposed to act, but this one was radiating enough fear that it clearly was prey. It paused for a moment as the overmind link poured in new instructions. Then it darted towards Thomas, aiming to disable him instead of kill and eat him.]

[he jumps back, and steadied his nerve, intending to go for a more forceful thrust, and ended up misjudging as he didn't expect for it suddenly dart at him]

Da-!

[he falls to the side, and winced]

Not go-good...

[The hydralisk twitched oddly, and suddenly Thomas's sword arm was pinned to the ground by a foot long bone spine. It went on to go ahead and stab him in both legs, and then sat back a bit and simply waited for the blood loss to knock him out.

Minutes later, all that was left was a stain.]
