If I recall correctly, his son was killed, which was what I expected to happen here as a tragic element to both Gordon and Batman, i.e. Even Batman can't always save the day and it would put the strain on their relationship that always pops up in the comics.

Barbara is a confusing tale. Depending on who you ask, its his daughter or its his niece who he raised as a daughter.

I wasn't impressed with Joker in this, making me a vast minority. He was missing too many things that make Joker. Everytime he started heading into the right direction, he pulled up in the reins.

Two Face though was an amazing piece of work, and while you're right, they could have hinted earlier at the whole dark side, the fall was so amazing, that even -I-, mr. Comic Book Guy who knew his fate, was stunned and shocked at the horridness of it all.
Chris Nolan pulled off with Aaron Eckhart in 1 movie what George Lucas struggled to do in 3 with Hayden Christensen. He created a real likable heroic good guy character, who you found yourself cheering for, who was wonderful 3-d as you explored both his personal life and his public, and then believably and distrubingly had him fall and become consumed into darkness. All with Zero Teen Angst and Whining.

I also didn't care much for Bale's performance (his voice was digitally altered, lol) and I just couldn't stand Michael Caine. I don't know what Caine thinks he's been doing lately in his movies, but it absolutely sucks.
I miss Michael Gough.
