Glee
i sang the song that silence brings (2644 words) by
VegaOfTheLyre - Puck, Quinn, Santana, Mike
Glee is so not my fandom, but I found something strangely irresistible about these characters trapped in school during a zombie apocalypse. The story has just the right balance of pathos and wry humor, just like my favorite episodes of the show.

Harry Potter
Drifting by jazzyjello - Ron/Luna
This isn't a pairing I normally read, but I was so glad I clicked the link anyway. This is one of the best portraits of Luna I can remember reading. She's so determined to be herself, but the author doesn't shy away from the pain a teenage girl would feel at not fitting in.

Once Upon a Time
Übermorgen hol ich mir der Königin ihr Kind (2420 words) by
waldorph - Rumpelstiltskin, OFC
Wonder why Rumpelstiltskin is always trying to get babies? Maybe he just really wants to be a daddy. This is a lovely, creepy tale of Rumpelstiltskin and the daughter he eventually finds. It would be worth reading for the story alone, but the originality of the writing style elevates it to a whole other level.

Sherlock
An Education by krabapple - Sherlock, John
I would not have thought it possible to create a plausible AU in which Sherlock is a preschool teacher, but apparently it is. This story is so adorable I want to hug it, yet Sherlock is also completely in character. I loved the explanation for why he loves teaching so much, and as a teacher, it meant a lot to me to see my profession portrayed as something an intelligent person would like to do.

Au Naturale (1796 words) by
IamShadow21 - John/Sherlock, John/Sarah, John/OC's (NC-17)
A lovely ode to John's appreciation for the beauty of natural-looking bodies.

Triage by morganstuart - Sally Donovan, Sherlock
The women of Sherlock are terribly under-appreciated, and this fic helps to remedy that. After Sherlock is stabbed at a crime scene, Sally gives him first aid while they wait for the ambulance to arrive. Their strained conversation is a fabulous window into both characters.

Star Trek
More Honored in the Breach by penknife - Amanda/Sarek (NC-17)
Good Vulcan POV is hard to do, but this story executes it admirably. Sarek's narration is logical, precise, and clearly alien, yet we can also understand perfectly why he wants to marry Amanda.
