Striking similarities
A group called Aoineko has done a promo for the Penny Arcade Expo, where the events in the video are quite similar to what happened to me on my way to Otakon.
The character in the promo wakes up, late for the con, and gets into her hovercar. On the way, the hovercar catches fire. She leaves the car there and makes it to the con.
Replace the hovercar with a Dodge Spirit, and the cute Japanese cybergoth girl with a nerdy fat guy in a tactical vest, and you've got my Otakon experience.
