Palin - an official campaign disaster

I never thought we could see that -- McCain's campaign aids smearing ... Palin 10 days before the Election Day!

I could understand that reaction from a losing party after the election.  But this all coming out before the election seems unprecedented.

Here are some of the quotes:

"Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."

And another:

A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.

"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."

The Maverick has made a colossal mistake in his choice of a VP.  Well, that's how Mavericks are -- all of their decisions are radical and have disproportionate consequences, either gloriously victorious or utterly disastrous.  So a Maverick cannot "build on his good deeds little-by-little"; he will be a celebrated winner until a single slip up ruins him absolutely and entirely.   It is like a poker player who always goes "all in" -- while he is winning, his victories may be quick and awesome, but he will be ruined by a single slip up or an unfortunate chance.
