Hide me away in the black of your heart
and I will gladly wait here,
fumbling toward ecstacy while my
eyes atrophy from lack of light;
my soul feels it radiating from
your own and I
do not need to see to know
that you shine brighter than a blade.

When you found me I was
facedown in failure,
unable to breathe and unable to see
the good you found in me.
Now I walk nights these streets of rain,
alternately denying my feelings and
shouting them down alleyways.
You said this was
no way to fall in love, but I know
that's why they call it falling.

I painted you liberally those nights,
even after you left,
my fingers tingling from the
phantom pain of you,
and the colors filling in the blanks
all that you hid from me.
To create it was to make it so;
This I told myself for years, bottle in hand.

As I stare across this
rusty desert, where every
sandstorm screams your name,
I know that your heartbeats bring you
closer every day.
They will mark your steps like a
pendulum,
counting down to the inevitability
of you and me,
you in me,
always.
