REFERENCES: His wikia page and wiki page
GENDER: Male

APPEARANCE:

Yamamoto is a moderately attractive man, standing at around 5'11" (ridiculously tall for his age) with jet black hair and relatively tan skin (from the amount of hours he spends out in the sun). He has the lean body of an athlete, from years spent running and playing baseball. He's relatively toned, but not incredibly buff or muscled; just defined enough for someone who runs a mile almost daily and can chase down bad guys without breaking a sweat. He carries himself with an air of confidence and is a generally cheerful kid, so he's almost always seen with a smile on his face.

His fashion sense doesn't vary much, and he's generally seen in sporty clothes or shirts and pants. He doesn't really dress himself up or style his hair other than the natural bedhead look he tends to go for (which is, in fact, natural). He does carry his sports equipment wherever he goes, if only to be prepared if anything ever happens...

PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS:

Unlike the more eccentric members of the Vongola Family, Yamamoto is an incredibly social creature with a carefree disposition and an ever-present smile. On the outside, he is the typical jock stereotype who loves baseball, running, and being generally pretty athletic. Baseball is his life, to the point where he almost throws himself off of the roof of the school building after he breaks his arms because the "baseball gods threw him away." (Subsequently, this is the moment he meets Tsuna, who rescues him when he accidentally falls.) His "dumb jock" exterior also reflects on his grades, which are lackluster at best, and are made even worse by the fact that he sometimes sleeps through class. He isn't exactly a complete idiot, however, as he is shown to get answers right when he tries and it is even stated that it's his dedication to baseball that lowers his marks.

Seemingly ignorant, Yamamoto's cheerfulness also makes him naive to the point where he believes that Tsuna is engaged in a “Cops and Robbers”-esque "Mafia game" and the weapons used are just glorified toys. Despite this shortcoming, he performs incredibly well in battle, without question, and manages to get along with everyone, or at least command their respect in some way. In life, he's lighthearted, but in battle, he's completely levelheaded, making him an excellent contender for the role of Vongola Rain Guardian, and making him natural born hitman, as stated multiple times by Reborn himself. It is this ignorance, however, that confuses his fellow guardians, who are baffled by the idea that Yamamoto has achieved so much while continuing to believe he is participating in game.

It is later shown that Yamamoto's knowledge of the inner workings of the mafia, and the true purpose of the Vongola, is more than he let on, leading some to believe that the naive act was just a way for a normal guy, such as himself, to deal with the bizarre situation he found himself in. He is also shown to not be as stupid and cheerful as he acts, even going as far as verbally beating sense into Gokudera during their fight with Gamma in the future. While Yamamoto is still all smiles and optimism, he truly isn't the naive idiot that most believed him to be, and his sense of awareness truly does extend past the safe bubble of sanity he surrounds himself with.

Yamamoto is also incredibly driven, in more than just his sports career. While most of his effort goes into baseball, and his initial reason for joining the Vongola was to have fun (and also for the added "baseball training" that Reborn threw in), he grows exponentially within the group, both as a person and as a fighter. Though Yamamoto is, at face value, "perfect" and with few faults, this is merely a result of his desire to grow and be stronger, and possessing the skills and tools to do so. Through the initial stages of the Vongola and against the Kokuyo Gang, Yamamoto faced very few conflicts he couldn't best by sheer skill alone, but it was the appearance of Squalo that changed the game for him. Being beaten for the first time, he didn't crawl away to lick his wounds and brood, he began training under his father, learning the Shigure Souen Ryu sword style from his father, and came out on top in his match against Squalo. When he faced off against Genkishi in the future, he was, again, beaten. But rather than sulk, he laughed it off and, with help from Squalo, realized he needed to fully dedicate himself to the sword in order to master it further. Each wall that Yamamoto faces is another challenge that he is driven to overcome, and it's this fact that makes him successful at what he does.

In the end, Yamamoto is a fiercely loyal boy who is willing to go to great lengths to protect the people he cares about. Time and time again he has made sacrifices for his friends, including injuring his broken arm even further in the fight with Ken in order to protect Tsuna, attempting to save Squalo after the Rain battle, and diving into the middle of battle in order to protect Haru and the children when he arrived in the future, not even fully comprehending the situation. He eventually chooses the sword over baseball, thus choosing the Vongola family over his passion and future (though he eventually does tell Squalo that the decision was only for the future, and promptly returns to baseball as soon as he gets back home). It is this loyalty and dedication that has brought him thus far and kept him alive in the never-ending strife to protect the past, the future, and the people closest to him.

It is these qualities that make Yamamoto best suited for GRYFFINDOR, where he would find his chance to shine. He is brave, strong (willed and minded), and loyal onto no ends. And he will stop at nothing to protect the people he values most, and stand up for what he believes in. What he lacks in academia and brain power, he makes up for in strength of character and sheer personality. He would also do well in HUFFLEPUFF, as he is also a very humble and kind boy as well. He's overly friendly, easy to get along with, and very self-sacrificing to those whom he calls "friend." He would be a great addition to either house, as he blends quite well to any situation.

ABILITIES & POWERS:

Though Yamamoto does not possess any super powers or skills in magic, he is endowed with an incredible physical prowess that sets him apart from the other Vongola guardians. Participating in baseball has left Yamamoto agile and strong, and through training with his father, Reborn and, eventually, Squalo, he was able to hone in his physical abilities for the good of his Family. His upper body strength from baseball also contributes to his ability to wield a sword, the first one given to him by Reborn in the form of a bat that turns into a katana when swung at 300km/h.

His skills with a sword weren't challenged until he met the Varia swordsman, Squalo, causing him to take up the Shigure Souen Ryu style of sword fighting from his father and inherit the Shigure Kintoki, a shinai that turns into a katana when the family sword style is used. Since then, his skills with a sword have vastly improved, assuring his spot as one of Tsuna's stronger guardians.

Since entering the future, Yamamoto has also acquired a few box weapons, including his rain swallow, Kojirou, which has the ability to create a tranquil rainfall and combine with his Shigure Kintoki, and his Vongola box, which contains the three short swords that make up "Asari Ugetsu," and his box animal, an akita inu named Jirou. Yamamoto has also gained the ability to combine his rain swallow, Kojirou, with the Shigure Kintoki to create the longsword in his set. After defeating Byakuran, the guardians were also given their box weapons in the form of compact rings, making them easier to transport and use.

His physical prowess would translate well as a quidditch player. Yamamoto, as a typical jock type, would excel in flying and in playing quidditch, and would make an excellent chaser or beater (though he would probably enjoy beater the most, as a baseball player). He would also do well in Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms, two classes he would probably find to be fun! (But he would be terrible at potions and History of Magic.) When he puts his mind to it, Yamamoto is actually a good student and is shown to grasp knowledge quite easily. His mind, however, is more preoccupied with sports, so academia is not his strong suit. He is a great fighter, however, and would enjoy wizarding duels and Defense Against the Dark Arts; that is the kind of information he grasps onto very easily.

WAND: Spruce, Shigure Kintoki core, 13", springy, good for charms

A spruce wand seeks out those with a firm hand and a bold personality. In the hands of the cautious, it is a dangerous wand, but when wielded by a sure-footed personality, it becomes a powerful tool. The spruce wand is intensely loyal to the person it chooses, and Yamamoto would have no problem using one. He is sure-footed and firm in his beliefs, and will stand up for what he believes in. He is also a social boy with a good sense of humor, qualities that a spruce wand seeks out in a master.

The core of his wand is made up of the sword that his father gave to him, the Shigure Kintoki. The sword takes the form of a shinai (or wooden kendo sword), but when used in the Shigure Souen Ryu style of swordsmanship, it takes on its true form. This sword is instrumental in Yamamoto's growth and in his own style of attack, and has saved him and many others in times of peril. The Shigure Souen Ryu style of sword fighting is highly water based, so Yamamoto would find a much easier time in water manipulation with his wand.

FIRST PERSON:

[ The video feed cuts on as a rather cheerful looking boy looks down at the device. He looks around a bit before looking back down at it. ]

So, you know that three page long essay on gillyweed due tomorrow in Potions class? Well, uh, let's say I have this friend who didn't do it. And this friend might need a bit of help... [ He pauses. ] Not writing it, anyway! I mean, he can right, but maybe he just doesn't know what to right?

Would anyone be willing to help this friend of mine? [ He grins. ] I mean, I already finished mine, so...

[ He looks around again. Time for a subject change: ]

Also, I was wondering if anyone wanted to get together and do some... What do they call them? Muggle sports? [ His grin turns a bit sheepish. ] You know, sports from our homes. Like baseball! Anyone interested?

THIRD PERSON:

Yamamoto had flown before, using his rain swords to propel him forward as he raced across the battlefield against all odds; against a timer ticking down that meant their lives. The Choice battle. It seemed so long ago, but it hadn't been. It felt like years away, and yet it was really barely a month ago. But that didn't seem to matter. He wasn't exactly home, but he wasn't there anymore. And now he had a new "home," a new fight, and a new playing field.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It sounded so fun and carefree, and part of it was. That part about magic and classes and meeting friends. And then there was Voldemort and Death Eaters and a war. A war that he agreed to fight. He and his friends agreed to fight. And it helped to know they weren't alone.

But when all was said and done and that threat loomed in the back of their minds, he couldn't complain. Of course, he could groan about Potions homework and wandwork and Occlumency and the professors he didn't like. But there was one thing that brought a smile to his face whenever he thought about it, and that was flying. He had never imaged he'd fly on a broomstick before, and the first time he wrapped his legs around one, he felt awkward, like he was going to fall off. But pushing up and taking off felt so natural that those thoughts quickly faded as he hovered there and then took off.

And with flying came quidditch, the one sport in the world that he never imaged doing. Sure, it wasn't baseball, and beating a bludger around didn't give him the same satisfaction that he got from hitting a baseball with his bat and watching it soar over the field, it was something. It was a start; it was integration, though he didn't think of it that way. It certainly helped him find a place in the school, not that he had trouble fitting in. But sports... Outside of the Vongola, sports were everything.

But in this magical place, nothing beat the exhiliration of flying around on a broom with the sky above him and the world below. It made him forget, for even a moment, that he was far from Namimori, from Takesushi, from his dad...
