i agree. however, perhaps we should consider that, as aethiests, what we believe to be the right choices are the ones we would make, so seeing other aethiests make these choices is in some ways a self fulfilling prophecy. certainly good upstanding christian folk tend to believe that other good upstanding christian folk make the right choices. we should also avoid saying that an aethiests choice comes from within, not from the direction of an outer being. while we reject the notion of a god dictating our behaviour, as you say, we largely follow the code of the society we live in. since at its original, uncorrupted heart, religion is a method of codifying the behaviours a society needs to function, and disseminating them to a populace otherwise incapable of self reflection, we are all in this together. i mean, in general, we still bow to peer pressure, to public opinion, we still listen to ill-informed media propaganda without seeking out correlating facts outside of the same media loop. of course, atleast we don't think there's an invisible bearded dude in the sky telling us what to do, unless it's rupert murdoch XD
