DISCLAIMER: Fullmetal Alchemist belongs to Arakawa Hiromu, Square Enix, BONES, Aniplex, Funimation, etc. Sadly, that "etcetera" does not encompass me either. Though I made up Clare for the heck of it.
Fandom: FMA
Characters/Pairings: Miles/Olivier Milla Armstrong
Rating: G
Spoilers: None. Manga-verse (quite obvious, really) - scratch that, sort of pre-manga. So don't shoot me if you see that their ranks are different.

15pairings For a moment, Captain Miles thought it was the apocalypse.
After all, he never, ever saw Brigadier General Olivier Milla Armstrong in a gown, especially not a glistening golden one studded with beads and sequins all around the hem, not to mention extremely thin straps that looked more like several transparent beads strung together. Still, he had to admit, she was simply beautiful, if chillingly so, just like whenever she donned her usual military uniform and had the Briggs blizzards for her backdrop, instead of a sunny patch of grass that thinned and gave way to sand and sea.
"General..."
"Perhaps you would also like to comment on how I look," she asked, as though she would instantly shoot him if he did.
Miles seemed to think so, and settled on a tamer answer. "No, I would just like to ask if you are enjoying yourself so far."
"I cannot really say. For one thing, Clare has chosen quite a nice spot, if a little too warm, and I guess that would also explain this." She tugged at one of her gown straps and frowned slightly. "But as for Clare herself, she's late for her own wedding."
"Maybe there is a reason why."
"I would like to know what alibi she has."
"And maybe it's not just an alibi. You know she doesn't lie."
"As always, you're quite right, Miles."
He couldn't help but give her a small smile for her compliment, and thought he saw her mouth twitch as well.
"But General, if you don't mind my saying so, the gown suits you."
Olivier stared at him, tucking a stray strand of her blond hair behind her ears, for a long time. He contemplated saying something else, or possibly changing the topic again. But as they saw the bride walking towards them, Olivier started forward, probably to give Clare a good scolding - and suddenly stopped, glancing over her shoulder at Miles.
"Thank you...Captain."
She turned away so quickly that he couldn't see if she had smiled or not...not that it mattered.
Did it?
