lj, new year's eve, movies, and stuff.

Delayed comment about LJ comments is... delayed, but I get LJ wanting to update the comments layout -- however, the formatting is executed so poorly and looks like shit aesthetically so my immediate reaction is "oh god fonts why?" over missing/broken things. Hmmph. I haven't changed to custom comment pages because a) I hate them and b) I haven't bothered to fix the HTML for mine (bad form I know, I just don't use it so I don't bother coding it).

In other news, I'm really looking forward to New Year's Eve. I'm throwing a party. THIS IS EXCITING TO ME. Because I never throw parties. I will also have dancing games and you bet your ass I will be dancing the Carlton dance to "It's Not Unusual".

The Muppets: After seeing the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image, I was I was REALLY looking forward to seeing the movie. It did not disappoint. The only thing I would've wanted would be more Muppets (too many human scenes?). But that was fine. I hope they make more. (And major props to the Muppeteers. I remember seeing people complain about seeing them at the end of the SNL episode Jason Segel hosted ("They're ruining the illusion!"), to which I would like you say "fuck you", because they deserve the attention for their hard work, damn it.)

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy: This movie. Man. What a great ensemble and fantastic acting. It made me so NERVOUS, I kept gasping in the theater (and driving fourfreedoms nuts). Amazing film.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows: ...that was the gayest, most fantastic film I've seen in a long time. I really loved it. Even more than the first one (which I thought was good but never went crazy over -- I thought it was pretty messy, actually).

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol: Really enjoyed it! It made me so TENSE. agh. I think M:I-2 is still my favorite (despite the sheer ridiculousness) but I loved this one, more than 3. Great cast (Renner! Pegg!) and crap, Tom Cruise. I may have enjoyed him again. Maybe. Perhaps. Just acting. Not off camera. ...goddamn.

The Dark Knight Rises prologue: My favorite part was when Bane said, "Mmmrrrphhghthhhrrrmm!"

Seriously, Nolan. FIX THE SOUND. I don't hate if you hate ADR, and you want the audience to catch up, I had no idea what the fuck he was saying. DO NOT DENY ME HARDY.
