It's been a while since I've had a story idea take hold and eat my brain, so it's fun. Go and take a look; there's a lot of films left to do and you can suggest ones that aren't on the list!

Here's a beautiful SPN picspam (Read more... )

The book is... fantastic but I can see how it's extremely difficult to adapt. As for the movie, a lot of it is just totally different than the book, especially the ending parts. They changed the entire meaning behind the title, too, haha. WHICH kind of annoyed me, despite the fact that I really like the movie and adore Will Smith.

Oh, okay! I was wondering. Especially the ending. It felt weird. I've never seen the other film adaptations either but it just felt... off? Changing the title I could see from a film standpoint because it's the kinda filmic all-knowing narration / grand ending thing that's done a lot (if that makes any sense). But I love Will and he was fantastic in it. :)

No, the title itself is the same, it's the MEANING behind the title that changed. But the thing is, I don't think the original meaning would have worked in a movie because in the book it basically represents a revelation that Neville comes to as the story is ending. But it's a personal revelation, you know?

That's what I meant -- as in the whole 'he gave his life -> that is his legend' thing. It's a change that I can see them doing because it's like a grand heroic movie thingy. Not the title itself. ;)

I am sleepy and being a dumbass by not wanting to outright spoil in the comments. Forgive my silliness. OMG NEED SLEEP.

But you're right that it probably wouldn't have worked. I think they tried a little with the butterfly thing? By then though, since it's personal I'm not surprised they couldn't quite carry it out as it is in the book.

GODDAMMIT SCREWED UP THE HTML

Gotcha gotcha. UM

OKAY I'M GOING TO WRITE OUT WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT UNDER THE FOLLOWING BLACK BAR BECAUSE IT BUGS ME BUT I ALSO UNDERSTAND IT AND ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXPLAIN WITHOUT EXPLAINING HAHA.

(and I don't wanna be like, a spoilery asshole ps spoilers beneath the BLACK. yes. I'm kinda hyper, sorry Stef ;P)

Basically in the book, after spending the entire story thinking of the vampires - and they're definitely vampires not zombies in the book, and completely sentient - as monsters, at the very end he gets captured by them and sees that they've created this entire new society, and that to them HE is the monster, the one out of time, the vaguely disbelieved in sort of like... monster in the woods, he's become THAT GUY to them, because now he's the weird one. And that's his realization, and the meaning of the title because in the book we come to realize that the vampires aren't SUPPOSED to be saved, that they're a legitimate new lifeform, and his kind had its chance but now it's gone. And it's ( ... )

Next time I should not respond to things when I am sleepy because it does no good for my brain but also next time you don't have to use HTML trickery/don't worry about it (because of course spoilers if I'm gonna talk about it) and like.. OKAY I FEEL GUILTY for leading you to do trickery! ANYWAY. yeah. *loves you and your hyper ( ... )
