A/N: This part turned out wordier than intended. I apologize~
Please, enjoy the second and final installment of this twoshot~ ^^
(Back to Part I) Jonghyun felt guilty. He hadn't at first, but after having cleared his head and having that talk with Key... Yes, he felt very guilty.
He was driving back home, trying to figure out how to word his apology. She must have figured out that he read her diary. How else would he have found out about this Junho guy? He realized that there hadn't been one time when she even slipped up and accidentally mentioned the other guy's name. She hadn't dropped the slightest hint about him. More important than that, it wasn't even as if things between them had changed. Nothing had changed between them in the slightest.
He pulled up into the driveway and dragged his fingers through his hair as he walked up the walkway to the door. She opened the door just as he took out his key to unlock it. She didn't even look at him as she adjusted a duffel bag on her shoulder and slipped out of the house, carefully pulling the other suitcase she was holding through the threshold.
"Wait," Jonghyun croaked, "What's with the bags?" His voice was betraying how strong he was attempting to act.
"I can't stay here," it was obvious that she was crying now, "You ended it. I figured if I left before you got back--"
"I'm sorry. I don't want you to go."
"It's not that easy. How did you even find out about Junho?"
"I...I read your diary~"
"I thought so... I really can't stay here. It is best if we just end it."
~~~~
"You know where she is...and you didn't tell me," Jonghyun could feel the veins all over his body pressing against the skin as he yelled.
Key scoffed, glaring harshly, "She asked me not to. After what you did, I guess I did end up on her side."
"You're evil. What kind of best friend are you," Jonghyun slammed his head on the kitchen table, not even cringing at the throbbing that began to pulse through his body.
Key did happen to cringe though. The sound that resulted from his friend crashing his head against the wood made his stomach churn. "Can you, please, not kill yourself in my kitchen? I have no idea how I would explain that to anyone," he pleaded.
"I am really beginning to reconsider our friendship. You are making my life hell without even trying," he cried.
"You're crying? Omo, pabo, don't cry," the blonde popped up immediately and grabbed his friend's arm, "I'll take you to her, okay? Jjongie, please, don't cry~" Key wiped the other's eyes and pulled him towards the door.
"This is going to be a long day," Key whispered as he slid into the driver's seat after getting Jonghyun in the passenger's seat.
~~~~
The car ride was very quiet. Jonghyun silently questioned as to why they'd stopped by a florist, but never voiced it. He stared out of the window, the tears that didn't fall staying pent up in the corners of his eyes and making them burn. He'd honestly never felt this bad before.
The two weeks that had passed since he'd seen her had been a couple of the worst weeks of his life. He hadn't looked in the mirror once since the day she left, so he hadn't the slightest idea of how awful he looked. He managed to shower and brush his teeth. It took a lot of his energy to do just that, but he managed. He hadn't really eaten much of anything and was sure that he had horrible bags under his eyes from his lack of sleep. How many hours had he gotten over the past fourteen or so days anyway? Probably only six or so total. Thankfully, his diva of a best friend had managed to help him get decent when it was necessary, not without slipping in side comments about how terrible he looked and how he should be grateful for having a friend that cared so much about his well being.
Some kind of friend since it took him two weeks to reveal that he knew where the reason behind his behavior actually was.
"We're here," Key stated, grabbing the bouquet of flowers from the backseat. He climbed out of the car, a solemn look on his face that he couldn't hide fast enough from his hyung.
Jonghyun quickly figured out the reason behind that look, "Ki--Kibummie, why are we at a cemetery?"
The other took in a deep breath, glancing at the time on his watch and then grabbing his friend's hand, heading along a trail and, obviously, knowing where he was going. Jonghyun followed along quietly, keeping his eyes down to his shoes as they walked. He didn't look up until they came to a stop.
There she was.
She was knelt down in front of a headstone with the saddest look he'd ever seen on her face, besides when he'd yelled his accusation of her cheating and broke up with her. It took a moment for it to register that his feet were moving. Key was pulling him towards her. He didn't even have the strength in him to stop him.
"Hey," Key greeted softly, kneeling down beside her. Jonghyun watched them hug and then froze when he heard his name whispered. His mind was in a daze. He couldn't tell if the daze had cleared up any or simply worsened when his eyes met hers.
"What are you doing here," her voice cracked as she stood up, brushing the knees of her jeans off.
Key let them talk, silently paying his respects to the burial site where they were at the moment.
"I needed to talk to you~"
"I'll get Key back for this later," she muttered angrily to herself.
"Is this where you've been the past couple of weeks?"
"I've spent most of my time here, if that's what you mean," she answered, coldly.
He was quiet for a moment, "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you like that."
"It doesn't matter. What happened can't be taken back," her tone was still cold.
"It doesn't matter. I can hear it in your voice that you're still mad at me."
"Look, Jonghyun, what you did does bother me, very much, actually. I want to forgive you, but I don't know if I can."
"I didn't let you explain, I made you cry, and I haven't seen you in weeks," his voice cracked, "I've been a wreck~"
She was quiet this time. Her eyes went to Key as he spoke, "I have no idea if I'm driving him home, but I'll be in my car if you need me~" He kissed the top of her head and gave a slight glare to Jonghyun, that made clear he wanted Jonghyun to make better of the situation as much as possible.
"You wanted to know who Junho was," she cut the silence, watching Key walk away until he was out of sight and then returning her attention to Jonghyun, who nodded his answer. She pointed to the headstone.
"Junho was a friend of mine from my hometown. We were best friends, actually, and I loved him a lot. You said I was talking about leaving you? I wasn't even talking about you. I was talking about him. Junho had moved here to attend uni while I was still in high school and I was thinking about leaving my hometown when I graduated to come stay with him."
She paused to kneel down again and place the flowers Key had left alongside the ones that she had brought, "I finally got to move when I graduated. I wanted to keep it a secret because I wanted to make sure I was accepted to an uni out here before I moved. He was proud of me when he found out...
"You know...I never told anyone I loved them before I met you. I felt bad since he died before I could tell him so he could actually hear it," she was crying now, "I-I really did love him, Jonghyun... It's not the same like I love you, but I did-- do-- I still love him~"
Jonghyun knelt down beside her and hugged her tightly to his chest. He was on the verge of tears himself. "I was a complete idiot...Can you, please, forgive me?"
She looked at him for a moment, before crying into his chest. They sat there for a while in silence until her sobs calmed, although he'd honestly begun to cry silent tears of his own. She pulled away and smiled weakly at him, wiping his tears, "Why are you crying?"
"I made you deal with this alone. You never make someone you love deal with something like this alone. I love you so much. I really hope you can forgive me."
She was actually hugging him back at this point, "I love you, too, so I'll definitely try."
"Does this mean you'll take me back," he questioned, his puppy dog eyes lighting up with hope.
"Yes, it does. I love my Jjongie too much not to," she smiled, which faded a bit as she looked down at the headstone.
"Don't worry. I'm sure he loves you, too, and he's very proud of you~"
