A/N: This was written after reading
"Absolute Chanyeol" by
leadernim. I absolutely adored the story so much! It was so beautifully written~~! (I thank Kat so much for the suggestion. ;u;)
I chose Key Oppa as the main character because I think that, secretly, I have a thing for seeing Kibum cry. It's like he get even more angelic looking when he cries. I'm a twisted little being.
I hope you enjoy. ^^
She was perfect, his dream come true. Kibum was in love. They were in love.
Her hand fit perfectly in his. Her body molded to his whenever he held her. Her smile lit up his world. Her laughter filled his heart with happiness.
Things were different now. Warm tears rolled down Kibum's cheeks and he held his knees tightly to his chest, as he sat on his bed with the door of his room shut and locked. He didn't want to be bothered. He didn't want to hear anything from the outside world. Nothing mattered but her. The only thing that ever mattered to him was her.
But she was gone. There was no bringing her back.
One car accident and his world had disappeared from beneath his feet. The accident hadn't been his fault, but he'd forever blame himself as the cause of her death. Just the thought of putting the blame on someone else made his heart wrench in the most painful of ways.
It'd been a week since the accident had happened and since he'd been released from the hospital. He escaped with a few scratches and minor wounds while the love of his life could only fight for hours before it was all over.
"Why wasn't I paying attention," he screeched, while blood-stained hands threw the lamp on his bedside table across the room. His hands were bloody and would be scarred for a while from having smashed the vanity mirror earlier.
Kibum wanted to die, but something wouldn't let him. He hated himself and wished for his life to end already. He was refused. He'd begun to believe that fate had something against him and that, somewhere in the universe, the unknown forces or fate, karma, and destiny were having a field day laughing at his grief. He wanted to kill them. He wanted to kill himself.
Her face resurfaced in his thoughts again and the tears spilled faster. They stung the skin as they trailed over his high cheekbones down to the tip of his chin.
"How could you leave me?! You disappeared! What am I supposed to do," he cried. The grip on his knees tightened, making his fingers sting and some of the small wounds left behind from the glass reopened. "What do I do," he asked the air as he shut his eyes tightly, knowing there was no one around that could hear him anyway.
'You live.'
He froze. The thumping in his ears from his heart had seemed to calm a bit. His sobs, on the other hand, echoing off the walls.
'You cannot stay like this. I cannot bear to see you this way.'
"You left me! There's nothing else I can do!" He swallowed his tears, seeing her familiar figure at the foot of his bed. For an instant, Kibum considered that he was insane, but he'd learned from his psychology class at the uni that people tended to see things and hear things in times of need, mainly of the important people they were connected to in life. That didn't silence the weeping or relieve any of the ache on his chest.
He reached out to her with a shaking hand and could swear he felt her touch running over the cuts under the layer of blood. "You left me," he whispered, broken, "You were my everything. I can't do this without you."
'You wonder why you cannot die... I have seen you trying to kill yourself. I will not allow you to do such a thing.'
"I don't want to live anymore! It's useless if you aren't by my side!"
'You must keep your head up. You know I hate to see you sad. You must smile for me.'
"I-I can't," Kibum's voice broke again. It seemed his tears would never end, "I want to hold you again. I want to know you're by my side. I want to hear you laugh again, see your smile."
'Live your life to make me happy. I will always be smiling as long as you smile. I will always be laughing with you.'
"No, you won't! You can't! You're not here. You've left me alone. I need you..." He broke, then and there. He collapsed to his side, laying on the bed and staring down the length of the bed at her. "How can anyone go on when what they live for disappears?"
'They live on as if it never did.'
"Am I supposed to pretend your death never happened?! Am I supposed to act like this isn't my fault?!"
'It was never your fault! The driver was drunk. It was his fault, not yours! Don't blame yourself for this, ever!'
His body shook with another sob, "I want you here with me. I wasn't paying attention. This is all my fault..." He felt familiar fingers wiping the tears away from his cheeks and a kiss be planted to his forehead. He looked up at her. She was smiling. Why was she smiling? She was dead and they were separated. How could she possibly be smiling?!
Kibum sat up slowly, watching her figure move towards the vanity. He felt the need to caution her of all the broken glass, but his mind wouldn't connect it since he knew it wouldn't hurt her and since the only sound that slipped from his lips was a choked sound.
There was a soft cling and he hadn't even noticed that his feet were pulling him to stand by her. He looked down, seeing a box with a bow and a tag that read: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIBUM.
His eyes went to her entity, standing behind him in the mirror, before opening the box. A locket slipped from the tissue paper and his fingers caught it before they could hit the white marble. His fingers had begun to tremble tremendously again as he popped open the locket. A picture of the two of them, cut to fit the shape of the golden heart, sit in one side, while another sit on the other. After a moment, it dawned on him that he was hearing both of their voices, although neither was speaking.
'You're perfect,' her voice played from the locket.
'No, you are,' his voice replied.
'I'm not, but as long as you love me.'
'I will always love you.'
'I will always love you,' her voice from the locket echoed in her ears, 'No matter how far I go from you, Kibum, I will always love you.'
Tears spilled again. Had he even stopped crying?
'Do not cry. I will always be in your heart. I will never leave from there.'
"My heart... My heart..." he repeated to himself, gripping the locket tightly in his palm. His eyes met the mirror and her form was no longer to be found in the room. The words from the locket played again as he put it around his neck. He felt a tug at his heart and his lips pulled upward at the edges. The ache in his chest was still painful, but he suddenly had the feeling that maybe, just maybe, he'd be okay.
'I will never leave your heart, so do not cry. Smile for me, Kibum, just keep smiling~'
