A/N: I thought I had something that I wanted to say... Oh! I'm sorry for so much dialogue. It's lots of talking in this chapter. I'm sorry about that. T~T
Disclaimer: I do not own Jonghyun Oppa, but I would like to. Well, maybe not own him exactly...but...you get what I mean, right?
Kimberly sat at the edge of the pool, one foot tucked under her while the other foot danced in the water. She leaned back and stared up at the stars, at least what she could see of them with the surrounding city lights. She loved the stars, but, admittedly, she loved Seoul more.
The pounding music of the nearby speakers lulled her back to reality, and back to wondering why she’d even attended the party. Yes, it was one of her close friends’ birthdays, but she had work in the morning and wished that she could’ve just given her the present and left. Then again, there was another reason she had stayed…
“I hate parties,” she mumbled aloud, face still up to the sky, but her eyes closed now.
“You’re not enjoying my party?”
“It’s not your party.”
“And I was going to trick you into giving me a birthday kiss.”
“You wouldn’t have been able to anyway.”
“You’re not the type to play hard to get, are you?”
“No, I just know when I don’t want to kiss someone, especially a stranger.”
“…You’re mean.”
“I would apologize, but you’d probably make me kiss you to make up for it.”
“Can you read minds?”
“I pick up on personalities fast.”
“Let’s start over then. You probably have me all wrong.”
“Are you the type that’s romantic yet into a lot of skinship? You like to make jokes, but sometimes people don’t know when to take you seriously. You’re not a loner, but you prefer your alone time. You’re a troublemaker.”
“Actually, trouble follows me.”
Kimberly smirked, “I guess I was right about everything else then, huh?”
The figure now sitting at her left, staring into the pool water, chuckled, “It’s kind of scary, actually, and we don’t even know each other’s names. I’m Jonghyun.”
“Kimberly.”
“I’m glad you came to the party.”
“You like playing this game, huh?”
Jonghyun chuckled again, “You break character so easily though.”
Kimberly raised a brow at him, “Probably because you seem to do this every time we go out.” He simply frowned in response. “You’re still not getting a kiss.” He whined audibly. She just grinned and slid her foot out from underneath her, allowing it to dip into the water next to the other. She placed her palms flat against the ground behind her and used them as support to lean back.
“Why can’t I have a kiss?”
“You aren’t my boyfriend, Jonghyun. I’ve told you this already, but don’t try and become my boyfriend just to get kisses from me.”
He turned his attention from the water and looked over at her, “But I really do want to be your boyfriend.” His eyes went back to the water, “We hang out a lot…but I…I want to go on actual dates with you, instead of hanging out with the rest of our friends.”
Kimberly smiled softly, “I wonder… How long have we been friends now? Almost three years?”
Jonghyun smiled a bit, as well, leaning forward and running a finger across the top of the water, “Stop ignoring my offer.”
She chuckled, “My boyfriend, huh? All right. I think I’ll give you a chance.”
“Remind me to thank Sunhi for not letting you miss her birthday party,” he looked over at her, smiling brightly now.
Kimberly considered giving him a kiss then, and settled on kissing his cheek. He smiled and then frowned, making her laugh. “I wanted a kiss on the lips. You missed,” he told her, his puppy dog eyes working at full power, but not enough to win her over. “You have to earn that. Begging won’t work,” she smiled. He hadn’t gotten the kiss he wanted, but he managed to hold her hand.
They sat next to the pool until it was time for Sunhi to blow out her birthday candles and open her presents. Even then, they walked hand-in-hand. Sunhi caught up to them once most of the guests had left and when they were about to leave. “You two look cute together, you know,” Sunhi smiled the smile of accomplishment, “Oh, and no need to thank me. I’m happy as long as my friends are happy.”
“Yah! Sunhi, didn’t I tell you to stop reading my mind,” Jonghyun whined, although smiling brightly.
“Sometimes I can’t let the chance slip up,” she replied, hugging the both of them and letting them leave.
Jonghyun walked Kimberly to her apartment. “So, you’re really going to give me a chance, right? This isn’t some trick?”
Kimberly chuckled, “You’re not that insecure, are you?”
“You’re so mean,” he frowned, smiling though when she gave him a light kiss on the lips.
She laughed softly, watching him freeze, “Just call me if you need me, okay?” She waved slightly, walking into her building and up to her apartment. She laughed again, hearing him cheering a bit loud as she headed up the stairs.
Jonghyun made his way to his apartment. He couldn’t stop smiling.
