(Prologue) (Chapter One)Rose, Taemin, and Jinki sat on one side of the room, watching the Elite Trio on the opposite side, discuss what should be done next. Jonghyun, Minho, and Kibum had left the healing room before Jinki had woken up and before Taemin had come back to reality from his daze. The two were fully aware now of what was going on.
“How’d you know there was something floating in the bowl,” Rose asked, looking to her left at Taemin.
The small-framed boy simply shrugged, “I sensed it. It’s got something strong attached to it.”
“You’re a tracker angel,” Jinki blurted out, moving the dark honey hair of his bangs from his vision.
“A tracker? What do you mean?” Taemin looked up, taking his attention from his fidgeting fingers in his lap.
“Trackers are the angels that can detect signatures from various objects,” Rose explained, “Like a scent someone left behind in the air, from something someone touched…things like that.”
“Are any of them trackers,” Taemin asked, nodding towards the trio across the room.
Jinki shook his head, “Kibum’s an all-around guardian, Minho’s a warrior angel, and Jonghyun is a protector.”
“What’re you two?”
“I’m a healer. Jinki is a guardian, like Kibum.”
“Taemin,” the trainee was called by Kibum, his voice actually scaring the boy.
The redhead hurried across the room and stood next to the angel that had called him. Rose and Jinki sat where they were, just watching and waiting for orders. After a few more minutes, Kibum stated loud enough for the other five in the room to hear, “It’s time to hunt.”

Sunmin glared at Kai, standing up and shoving him against the nearest wall. Without any words, she stormed out of the room. Kai rubbed his left shoulder, sore from having made contact enough with the wall to have put a hole in it. “I wonder if she’ll kill you one day,” Tao thought aloud, running his fingers along the hole in the wall.
“She can’t kill me without any powers,” Kai muttered in return.
“Did you not hear the story about her father?”
“Does that matter? If she has a power like her brother, who cares?”
“But she and her brothers still have some of their father’s ability.”
“…I forgot she has another brother.”
“Don’t change the subject.”
“Fine… Tell me about her fath-“
Kris entered the room, narrowing his eyes at Kai, “Didn’t I tell you to stop picking on my sister?”
“She started it,” Kai replied, shrugging his shoulders.
Kris reared his arm back to hit him. Kai disappeared and then reappeared behind him, smirking as if he’d accomplished something, only to have said smirk wiped from his face with a reared back elbow. “My sister’s a nice girl,” Kris turned to face the boy, “This is your last warning.” He scoffed and shoved him to the side so he could leave.
‘I wonder which one of them will kill you first. I guess if Lay’s around when they try, he might be able to save you before you die.”
“Why would her other brother bother to save me,” Kai wiped the bit of blood that began to drip from his lips.
“He’s the good guy,” Tao shrugged, “The good guys help everyone.”
Kai simply stared at him, “That’s the story I’ve never heard.”
“What story?”
“How come only one of them got to stay back home?”
“That’s the story of their father…”
It took a bit of time for the story to be told, at least for Tao to tell what he knew as facts. Kai simply sat there, not bothering to really make a comment on what he’d just heard. He didn’t want guilt eating away at him worse than it already was. He grimaced as if he was in pain when he heard the shuffling of someone coming down the hall and then spotting Baekhyun rushing into the room. Tao and Kai stared at him for a moment before Tao broke the awkward silence, “What’s wrong with you?”
“We have…a rescue mission,” the older breathed out, giving way that he’d been running for some reason.
“A rescue-What’s wrong?!” Kai took his turn to speak.
“They…They got Sunmin. It wasn’t…” his voice cracked, a mix emotions giving way in his eyes for a moment, “We have to go find her. Kris will kill any and every one if he finds out.”
“Who took her?” Kai was speaking again, honestly curious now.
“The Elite…”
“The Elite as in the guardians,” Tao questioned, audibly swallowing the nervous lump that has formed in his throat.
“Who else,” Baekhyun croaked, using up the wind he’d just managed to get to fill his burning lungs.
“How are we supposed to get her back from them?!” Tao expression tore between fury and shock.
“It doesn’t matter, but we have to before Kris finds out~”
~~~~~~~~~~
“Minho, be careful with her!” “What for?!” “We’re not killing her!” “Stupid, you have to find out where the energy is from her first!” “Stop yelling~ You guys are too loud~” “Shut up!” “Hey, let her go!” “Fine~” “Stop! Where do you think you’re going?!”
Sunmin froze in place, falling to her knees where she was, both out of fear and simply being unsure of where she was going to go. She had no idea where she was. No, she had an idea of where she was, but she didn’t know how to get out. She was one-hundred percent sure that she was in the Temple.
Rose was the first to step forward to her, taking cautious steps as not to scare the other girl. Rose knelt down in front of her, looking into her eyes and trying to find if she was in pain anywhere. Running her fingers across the captive girl’s forehead, she soothed and healed the bruises left by the two brutes of the top trio. Sunmin gave the angel a soft, weak, grateful smile, but made no effort to actually form any words. The other angels looked began making their way to her. She sat back on her heels and looked up at them. She honestly felt uncomfortable, sensing that something was wrong. Kibum knelt down in front of her now. His eyes were sharp but soft as they peered into hers, “You don’t mind answering a few questions for us, do you?” Sunmin simply stared back for a moment before deciding her answer. She finally nodded, a feeling of safety washing over her.
Kibum asked the other angels to leave, with the protests of Jonghyun and Minho as Taemin, Jinki, and Rose pushed them out. Kibum scoffed a bit irritated at the show that they were putting on unnecessarily. He guided Sunmin to one of the couches in the room and began his questions.
It wasn’t long, but enough time had passed that Minho and Jonghyun were now anxious as they waited for Kibum to finally let them back into the room. Rose made her way to where the other girl was sitting and took a seat beside her, Taemin sitting beside Rose. The other three stood awkwardly around Kibum’s chair, Jinki the only one holding onto a smile, although it was nervous, it was still sweet and warm. “She’s not the culprit,” Kibum’s word hung heavy in the air, cutting the awkward silence and replacing it with a cold and curious one.
“That signature we tracked isn’t exactly hers, but she is related to them in some way,” Kibum continued, “Although she won’t tell me who it is.”
Everyone else in the room directed their eyes towards the apparently innocent female. “I don’t know who it is,” she muttered, eyebrows furrowed and mouth turned down in a frown as she kept her eyes focused on the floor.
“What’re we going to do then,” Rose asked, her attention returning the head Angel.
“We’ll just have to hear everything she might know about what happened,” he replied simply, “She didn’t even know the energy had been stolen, but she definitely has an idea of who did it.”
“You’re going to help us get it back, aren’t you,” Taemin questioned, his eyes lit up with curiosity.
Sunmin nodded, her eyes still to the floor, “I’ll try my best.”
But there was more in store for all of them. There was a lot that had yet to be discovered.
