I understand the Confederate Flag issue. Yeah, everyone has a stand on it. Much of it makes sense, and I can see where it's a pretty tense subject matter for the black community.
It seems as of late we are fast to be offended by EVERYTHING. Yesterday was no exception, and I was faced with the most insane arguments over something so fucking trivial. It simply blew my mind. A simple post about a ignorant parent outraged by a Princess Leia figure lead to an explosive dump of people who took the topic to strange new heights. Including the completely off topic discussion of the lack of Princess Leia figures produced. To which I argued with images the multiples of figures produced of Leia, which unraveled into "Well I don't see them" so it obviously means they don't exist. Then is derailed even further when others argued that this was completely inappropriate for children, and when retorted with "It's really not intended for children based on it's price and identification" they still had to argue it to the point of saying it projected images to children of sex trafficking. WHAT THE FUCK!?
Now, I get everyone has an opinion. Everyone wants to grand stand. However, it's a fucking action figure based on a moment where this "vulnerable" female character becomes a flat out badass and takes down a gangster. Out of context it's just another sex doll I suppose...but what the fuck people...you can't say you've never heard of Star Wars, know the story, and know the context. If you can't why the FUCK are you buying the toys in the first place?
I simply can't believe how far we haven't come. I give up. People are simply going to use anything as an opportunity to shove their moral grandstanding. I guess I'll never understand the need to ban everything and shove your at will standards on everyone else.
