Chinese IME
My former classmate Hai-Quan (who doesn't really speak English) sent me a note in Chinese (on Facebook) about a week ago.
I figured I should actually respond to him relatively soon.
It's actually been a while since I've used my IME input, to the point where my usual context-specific phrases weren't appearing. For example I was typing "to continue" 一直 (well, trying to), and I wasn't getting 直, only 知. 直 wasn't appearing on the list and I didn't want to delve through 30 characters so I spent a good few minutes trying to remember which tone it was.
Couldn't remember the root tone (characters following 一 sometimes take on different tones to fit smoother speech patterns)... so I ended up delving through 30 characters anyway. *sigh*
And then I was trying to write the sentence "My IME gives me wrong characters" and the only way I could remember to express "wrong" was 壞 (bad) or 不對 (not correct). But I'm pretty sure 壞 means more like "evil" and 不對 is the "long" way to say something is incorrect.
So I had to use Google Translate and it gave me 錯 (cuo4) as the root term for "incorrect." Lord knows I've used 錯 quite a few times in the past, no idea why my brain couldn't recall it now.
Anyway here was the message:
我只有學兩個語言 0.0 日本語 中文 I have only studied two languages, Japanese and Chinese (I meant to say that I didn't study them at the same time, but unfortunately I had never mastered this type of grammar structure)
嘿嘿 我說你照片像好看 Hey, I said your picture looked good
可以說的吧?? 哈哈哈 =' '= I can say that, right? Hahaha!
我覺得 "哪裡哪裡" 是 "你太客氣" ? "哪有哪有" 也是一樣的意思嗎? I thought "哪裡哪裡" means "You are too polite"?
"哪有哪有" also means the same thing?
在我國家沒有好辦法一直學中文... = = In my national country there aren't good methods to study Chinese
