Well, I wasn't really embarrassed that Dean said that, I was embarrassed that JENSEN had to say that, if that makes any sense.
Like, that line was clearly a wink to the fans, and Jensen must have known that, and it's just kind of awkward that Kripke keeps knocking down the fourth wall and making both the audience and the actor feel self-conscious. The idea of Jensen in panties is sexy to me, personally, but I don't want Jensen to actually have to verbally acknowledge it, you know?
Also, Jared did a good job playing Lucifer, who is a different kind of evil than Jared's played before; compared to the feral brutality of Meg or Sam when he was hopped up on demonblood or out of his mind with anger due to the psychopathic ghost doctor in season one, Lucifer seems downright civilized most of the time.
Lucifer wears this slick, infinitely persuasive veneer over all his rage and disgust, uses polished prose as a tool to manipulate people, and I don't think it was until Dean called him on his bullshit (that part where Dean said, "I'm not buying it") that we actually got to see a little of the real Lucifer--cold, and cruel, and ruthless (I'm too lazy to look up the exact dialogue, but it was when he said, "No matter what you do, no matter how many times you think of what you could do differently, we'll always end up here. I'll see you in five years, Dean"). I think Lucifer is the most dangerous demon because he seems like he's not threatening at first; he comes across as reasonable and empathetic until that cover gets ruffled and he reveals the brutality underneath.
