You will probably think I am a terrible person for saying this...

I am sick of the way people are treated when they die. Everyone seems to love dead people, and everything they say is all of a sudden extremely profound and amazing.

The most recent example is a kid named Bruce Gilley. I didn't know him, he had just started his freshman year at Oakland this year and he died of some sort of heart problems after cross country practice. Ever since, I keep seeing his quotes everywhere, people treating him like he is some sort of god or something. He was just a normal person and he died. It doesn't make him any greater or worse. From reading his random quotes, he doesn't seem like a person I would like. They all seem to be coming from a person who has no idea what the hell he is talking about. I am sorry for being so apathetic and not having respect for the dead. What makes him so much more special than everyone else?

It also makes me wonder if anybody would quote me when I died. Probably not because I don't say things about how great love and life are. I tell it like it is. I tell the truth: that life sucks, that love is almost non-existant these days, and there is really no point in living.

I guess people just use quotes from people who die young to help them believe the lies that they should be old enough to know are false.
