It's late at night. My eyes are sleepy. We just finished watching Titanic; Georgia, Ezra, Paige, and I. We've been anticipating watching the movie together for about six months but only now got around to it because Georgia got it on VHS, which was important to her. And with the submarine implosion two weeks ago, she finally got the idea for what Titantic-themed food we should eat with the movie: subs. I thought that was a really good idea. We didn't have subs, she cooked stovetop hot dogs because this was also a post-4th of July evening together. That was fine, too. I had a burger yesterday for the 4th and a hot dog today for the 5th. I brought ingredients for coleslaw and watermelon and cherry cola.
Earlier today, I woke up at half past noon at my parents' house (I'd been up til 3) after having two intense, long, storied dreams and I took my time getting ready and having breakfast. My parents had insisted on bringing me to the supermarket to pick out breakfast for myself because they didn't have anything I'd like in their kitchen, I guess. I'm thankful to them. After getting ready, my mom talked to me about crocheting pumpkins for Halloween from any of the many free patterns that are online, and she talked to me about following diagrams versus following verbal patterns. Then we drove up to Salem (it was sunny and hot) and I unpacked and did the heavy annoying work of putting in my A/C. It was worth it because my room got so cold for Paige. And I wasn't miserable and muggy.
It's Huey Lewis's birthday so while Georgia was running late getting home, I made up a post for him for my bttf blog. Georgia had got onto the wrong train and went the opposite direction for a few stops. When she got off, she ordered an Uber and while waiting, she saw someone she recognized from walking home one time a few months ago. The woman was also ordering an Uber. Georgia asked if she lived in Salem and if she wanted to share a ride and the woman was so happy she insisted on covering the $40 cost of the Uber back. The Uber driver was talkative and nice, too, so it was an overall good time of connection born out of a silly accident that could have gone so much worse. What were the chances Georgia would've remembered that woman, and noticed she was on the wrong train before that stop, and run into the woman at that stop at that time. We all wondered if maybe it was a ripple back through time that made her pay memorable attention the first time she saw the woman months ago. Or maybe this was a saving grace from a darker path and something would've happened if Georgia got into an Uber alone.
