I finally did it, I finally finished reading A Game of Thrones. I started reading it once in college but it was a borrowed copy and I finally gave it back without getting more than a third of the way through. But I did it, I read it all the way through.

...Now I just have to read the other four. I picked up the ebooks because I found them on sale, and reading it on my phone makes it SO much easier because I can pick it up and put it down whenever I want, but...gah. I try not to look at the page count, because it's a set. Which means that I've read a bit over 800 pages...out of 4750. But hey, that means that there's less than 4000 pages left now! :D?

...sometimes I look at the page count and think, oh god what have I done? XD

It's good though. I just wish there were fewer characters. Or at least fewer that were focused on. I feel like if he focused on fewer characters there would be more impact when they died. The POV changes are jarring, especially when the narrative fucks off to follow Dany or Jon while the bulk of the plot is happening elsewhere. Not that I mind reading about Dany or Jon, I quite like them, but seriously.

Sansa especially annoyed me the first time I tried to read, but now I just feel sorry for her. She's like a Disney princess who got lost and took a really, really wrong turn.

I started out reading with the hope that by the time I finished there might be news of when the sixth book was coming out, or the third book in the Kingkiller Chronicle, but I think I'm actually reading too fast for that. And then I heard that there's actually supposed to be two more books in this?

I don't know, I have a feeling Rothfuss will come through with Doors of Stone before we get even a tentative publishing date on the next from Martin. Still don't know what I was thinking starting this in February. "Winter is Coming." Shut up, Starks.
