BATMAAAAAAN!

This post will be SPOILER-FREE (though full of opinions. and action figures.).

I just came home from seeing The Dark Knight Rises. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME. Very very long. But so worth it. Even my hard-to-please brother didn't have anything bad to say!

I keep joking to my brother that there has to be another movie at some point...there are still three members of the main Inception cast who haven't been in the series yet. He keeps rolling his eyes at me.

I may have been a little excited for this movie. I mean, I have Bat-nail-polish. That glows in the dark. Gold with little bats on. It's awesome.

I finally got to see the final result of the bits and pieces I caught glimpses of what they were filming in Pittsburgh. It is an enormous, impressive set piece that is constantly going past my job and other locations that I frequent on a daily basis. My store was actually open while they were filming it. It was awesome. Also slightly distracting, cause I constantly kept going "There's my job!" (look for the red awnings) "I shop there!" "There's the library!" "Primanti's is just off screen right there!" "Hey wait a minute the streets don't work that way!" ...though that last bit is irrelevant, you aren't exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to long, straight streets in downtown Pittsburgh. And hey...I work in Gotham City!

I'm sure when the DVD comes out there will be much pausing and reexamining that scene. But I digress.

I loved Bane. I also loved John Blake. That's Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character. There is an action figure of him coming out. Tiny plastic JGL WILL BE MINE! ...because I already have Bane, Jim Gordon, and of course Batman. If you collect the entire set you can build your own working Batsignal, and Jim comes with an alternate broken lens so you can stage the last scene of TDK, which is cool. There's an action figure of Michael Caine as Alfred, how can you not love that?

I thought Anne Hathaway was fantastic, I wasn't sure what to think about Catwoman's presence in the film but, very much yes.

As a Steelers fan, that sequence made me very, very happy. Actually, the film ends with Hines Ward beating up EVERYONE! :D ...okay, maybe not. >_>

It surprised me, it made me cry both happy and sad, and the ending was, to me anyway, incredibly satisfying. I was incredibly excited about this film and I was not disappointed.

I think the adrenaline rush is wearing off now I'll post an actually more review-like thing in a few days. I'll have seen it again by then too. Fair warning when you go: long movie.

There is no scene during or after the credits, btw.

In the meantime, two thumbs up!

batman, rambly reviewish type thing, awesomeness, movies
