I finished Jude Fisher's trilogy series, Fool's Gold, today.
... I have never been so frustrated and disappointed EVER. *Beat* Or, well, for a good bout of time. At least, with a book anyway.
Seriously, we're talking 600 pages and change PER book. That's 1800 + pages of me being invested in this story.
(Now, I'm about to get spoilery as to why...)
Okay, look. If you're gonna have a book span three books where you're blossoming a romantic relationship? You DON'T leave it UNRESOLVED.
Gods, how many times do I have to say this before the world will hear me and OBEY ME. It is not artsy. It is not creative through using the reader's imagination of the future. It is not a cute tease.
If I give you hours and hours of my time, you'd better damn well deliver!! If I wanted to come up with my own version of whether the two leads get together, I'd write my own story. But when you take me through a world and say, "You see these two? Yeah, they like each other... ah ah, not gonna see them interact in the second book ha ha! ... Heh heh, look at how cute it is that the male lead is all about his feelings for the girl... too bad she never discusses how SHE feels about that. But gee, aren't you glad she's not dead?"
Pencil. Broken.
Either do it or don't bring it up. That's all I ask.
