i miss your face
So there was a concert, and it was a good time with a good friend. I knew more songs than I thought -- I knew that I'd know the one from this vid -- which the singer introduced by announcing the next song would be a couple skate -- plus one other. I'd actually heard a few more on the radio and just not made the connection back to the same band.
And then this past friday, I made plans to drive up to the Japanese marketplace, since this was the friday I'd incorrectly finagled off. And after I dragged myself up there, I saw signs for an anime convention for that very weekend -- the one I'd stopped going to due to the EIGHT HOUR LINE. And I thought to myself, "Self, you are maybe ten minutes away. Perhaps the line is not that bad this year?" And lo, the line was in fact short.
Can I just say, I've missed fans in real life? Even though I am not in anime fandom by any stretch anymore, being surrounded by people embracing and expressing their fannish sides was absolutely joyous. (Also, I found the only Iron Man shirt in the entire con. Also also, I've become the kind of person who will spend $30 on a shirt that she doesn't like the fit of, because "I can fix that.")
