Because summer in Smalltownia means street fairs and fried foodstuffs. I object to neither. I do object to the thunderstorm with downpour -- but mainly because it coincided with the aforementioned street fair.
This week did not suck as much as anticipated on the work front. Although this is a good thing, it also implies a serious lack of things remaining to learn. Which would completely mean quitting time if I didn't have bills to pay. But my old employment agency emailed me about a job last week (yes, over a year after I last contacted them). So I could chance it...
Especially since I am one bill less than I had been -- the student loan is PAID OFF. Sis claims never to have met anyone whose student loan is paid off and informs me that if I also pay off my credit card (which looks possible in the not-too-distant-future, now that the money going to the loan has been freed up) then I will be summarily thrown out of Gen X.
I could live with that.
Fannishly, brain still eated by new Trek. I have been reading omgsomuchfic. I may do a recs post. I haven't written any thing for it (yet), because I still have fic promises outstanding, none of which have anything to do with how MFEO the new Kirk and McCoy are. Or how awesome the new Uhura is. Plus, I'm still working on the potentially longish crossover for myself (seriously, I am projecting an audience of one. Plus rynka, because I make her read my stuff By the way, I really am going to have to trash a good portion of that scene! Stupid PLOT.). On the other hand, I haven't read the due South Big Bang fics yet, except the one that I'd seen while it was still in development, because I needed to see the final version. Which, ps, is awesome.
Randomly, facebook continues to confuddle me. It doesn't help that I am so utter crap with names. I saw an update and was instantly, gleefully, 'Ee, fandom friend is in the area?!' Then realized, 'Wait, no, that's the LOCAL friend who has the same first name. Dammit.'
Also, as I'm being random, there's a girl at my gym who looks like secretlybronte, but blonde. And another girl who looks like queenzulu... which probably means she's related to my college roommate, since queenzulu looks enough like my former roommate that I did doubletakes for pretty much the entire Pacificon. WHICH IS HAPPENING AGAIN, EEEE. \bitchin' party/
