Exactly one year ago I expressed a strong desire to go lay in a wheat field, eat oranges, and then jump into the ocean. All in one day I might add.
This has yet to happen, and as this is suppossedly the last summer of my childhood, it has to happen sometime before mid-August. At that time I will officialy be a college student, or something like that.
This summer should be filled with warm and windy wheat fields, farmers market fruit, Beck concerts, Tom Petty concerts, back yard campouts (HARMONY!), road trips to San Fran, and maybe even some late night Ralphs trips.
Im currently on vacation with my parents and Im enjoying myself as much as I can. I spent today treking around the greater New Orleans area. Voodoo shops were visited but no voodoo dolls were bought. I walked with my dad along the Mississippi and we looked at paddle boats. I've been eating a lot of shrimp these past couple of days, that's pretty much the staple of everyones diet down here in the south. Everybody calls everybody Mamn or Sir, and they say Y'all alot! But an unfortunate thing I notice about the south is the way blacks and whites are still separated. By choice this time instead of law. At least the black peaple I have seen keep to themselves and don't look at the white people to much; the same thing with the white people. This is extremely odd for me because I have never seen this problem before. I didn't think it existed anymore. It's really sad and pathetic that we can't all look at eachother like equals. So it goes...
