Maggey: *Sits at a small, outdoor café table beneath the shade of a patio umbrella, waiting for her friend to arrive. She's dressed in her usual, favorite pair of street clothes- jean capris and a Blue Badger tank top, though she's neglected to wear a jacket thanks to the warm weather.*
Rhoda: *arrives right on time. If being a flight attendant has taught her anything, it's all about being punctual. She's dressed in a hot pink designer blouse with a yellow pencil skirt, topped off with a Borginian scarf, tied around her neck. She immediately spots Maggey and shuffles over* Maggey!
Maggey: *waves and stands up, meeting the other woman half-way with a quick hug* I hope you don't mind that I got us a table outside. It's just so nice out! *beaming*
Maggey: *she blinks then, taking in Rhoda's outfit fully* Oh wow, you're outfit is so colorful, Rhoda! It really suits you!
Rhoda: *hugs back* Thank you! You look wonderful, yourself. *takes a seat at the table Maggey was previously at* It's so nice to see you again! How many years has it been? 6?
Maggey: Just about! *happily, as she returns to her seat,* I'm still shocked that you found me over that journal site, of all places. I guess it's just really popular to have one nowadays, huh?
Rhoda: Yes, I never imagined we'd be connected in so many ways! *smiles* How is your job going? *a bit timidly* D-Do you have the pleasure of working with Mr. Edgeworth a lot?
Maggey: O-Oh... uhm... *her own smile wilts, just slightly* Not so much anymore, ever since I was fired from working security at the Prosecutor's office... *sighs*
Maggey: But my new job is going pretty well..! And it lets me get involved with community events like the auction at the park!
Rhoda: *feels like she's struck a raw nerve and decides to quickly change the subject* That's great! I know you've always been such a people person. I'm sure it's a perfect fit. *after a pause* So what exactly have you been up to all these years? *jokingly* Haven't gotten yourself into much trouble, I hope!
Maggey: *this time, it's obvious she's trying hard not to sink lower in her seat* U... Uhm.... *rubs at her arm*
Maggey: Not on purpose... I think my bad luck has just gotten worse since high school...
Rhoda: *genuinely concerned* Oh dear... I'm sorry to hear that. *tugs at her scarf nervously* But I would be happy to listen if you'd like to talk about it.
Maggey: Oh, no no! It's okay now, I didn't mean to worry you. This year I'm going to really get it together. *quick to smile once more* How about you though? I can't imagine you getting yourself into any trouble- you were always one of the best students I knew! *laughs*
Rhoda: *her smile twitches* Y-yes... I do my best not to get involved in such things. *practically under her breath* But sometimes trouble manages to find you even when you're not looking...
Maggey: *oblivious to the other woman's discomfort* Oh boy, do I hear you on that one..!
Maggey: *glances back over her shoulder* Aah! I got so caught up, I forgot to ask what you'd like! *gestures to the lone drink on the table* I got something for myself already, but did you want something too? My treat!
Rhoda: *noticeably brightens* Oh, yes! I suppose I should order something as well. *takes a glace at the menu in front of her* I've never been here before. Do you have any recommendations?
Maggey: Well, I don't eat out often, but I really like the sandwiches they have here. Oh, especially their chicken panini- it's really tasty. *looks back at the menu* In fact, I think that's what I'll get this time! *smiles brightly*
Rhoda: I think I'll have the same! *politely flags down a nearby waiter and orders herself an iced tea along with the two chicken panini plates. Turns back to Maggey with a smile* Now, where were we?
Maggey: *Not finding -trouble- to be a very nice subject matter, she switches it,* S-So... you know Mr. Edgeworth too then, you said..?
Rhoda: Indeed! He is quite the gentleman, isn't he? Though he can be a bit...stern. *the corner of her mouth twitches again* I shouldn't bore you with the story of how I came to meet him though.
Maggey: Boring? *she laughs* I'm sure it isn't! You can tell me, I bet it's really interesting!
Rhoda: *a bit hesitantly* Well, if you insist... *clears her throat and squares her shoulders* There was a minor "incident" that occurred on one of my flights. *she conveniently leaves out the fact that she initially accused him of murder* Mr. Edgeworth happened to be a passenger and he got me out of quite the predicament.
Maggey: *she's genuinely impressed* That's amazing, Rhoda! He helped me out of a really sticky situation too, recently! *she's all smiles once more* He really is a great guy, huh?
Rhoda: *a little more excited than she meant to be* He really is! *thinks for a moment* But does he always have those deep crevasses between his brows?
Maggey: *pauses* You... oh, you mean like frown marks? *thoughtfully,* I guess he does look pretty serious, for the most part.
Rhoda: *just as they are discussing Edgeworth's wrinkles, the waiter returns with their order and sets it down in front of them. Rhoda thanks the waiter and returns her attention to Maggey* Yes, but considering how he's helped so many of us, he must be very noble. *takes a sip of her iced tea and asks out of pure curiosity* Oh, how about you? I don't mean to be nosey, but is there a special man in your life right now?
Maggey: Mm, not really. I've been so busy lately, I haven't really had time to get into the dating game. *takes a sip from her own drink before continuing,* Not that having a boyfriend would be a bad thing, of course!
Maggey: I have a couple really wonderful friends, but I just don't think any of them have romantic interest in me. *she crosses her legs, laughing easily*
Rhoda: I'd think you would have a whole line of boys waiting at your door! *smiles* Perhaps, there's one sitting right under your nose that you just haven't noticed yet. *frowns thoughtfully* But I'm really not in the position to be giving romance advice, either. *sighs* Work has been keeping me busy and out of the dating game as well.
Maggey: *for a moment, Maggey actually seems to take it to heart, a thoughtful expression forming across her features before...
Maggey: She simply echoes Rhoda's sigh, and shrugs it off* If your mom is anything like mine is, I'm sure she's got plenty to say about it, too. Ah well.
Rhoda: *laughs* Oh, I can completely relate. My two sisters have already gotten married and have families of their own. I try not to feel pressured, but it can be hard at times. *beams* At least I can proudly say that I greatly enjoy my career. *takes a modest, polite bite out of her panini*
Maggey: Haha, cheers to that! *gives a small salute, finally turning to her own meal* Things may have started off rough, but I have a good feeling about this year!
Rhoda: Cheers! *nods her head* It's good to stay positive! Even in the most dire of times.
Maggey: Yup! I completely agree! I just know it, things are going to be much better!
Maggey: Waiter: *as he passes by his toe catches on one of Maggey's chair legs, sending him into a sprawl, and sending his tray of drinks straight into her lap*
