So yes. Was still awake Wednesday night this time zone when we heard of the London bombings. It was too early to know what was really going on, so we just watched in horror as the news came in but then had to go to sleep. Thankfully things were a bit clearer in the morning - even if of course that was the *only* day since I got here that I've actually had to be up early. Catch an 8am bus, to be precise.

I don't know that many people in London and am pretty sure those are all safe. No celandic people were affected even if the President and his wife were in the area. Best wishes to everyone! It's weird to think that I was there only a month ago. Not on the stations that were hit, but ones very close to it. World so small sometimes.

So yes. I spent all yesterday registering for courses for the next year. Or to be more precise - figuring out what courses I have to take, what courses I want to take, make sure I can take them, make sure they're not full, make sure they don't clash with other courses I'm signing up for and then actually filling it into the computer. And GOD it's a lot of work!! In my schools before I've been responsible for choosing my courses and planning my study, but I've never had to actually make up the whole timetable before. Not to mention that I've been out of school since December and apart from these 3-4 weeks or so I spent in the office up on the mountain then I haven't actually done anything that requires actual thought since (haven't even taken part in a canadian quiz or lottery thing where I have to answer a simple mathematical question) so I could practically hear the wheels in my brain turning.

But in the end it all worked out! Apart for some minor discrepancies.
1) Since my registering date was so late in the year then most of the courses are full. A.k.a. - I'm waitlisted in all but one of the courses I signed up for.
2) The only course I was supposed to take - an english requirement, and a course I'd want to take anyway as I think it would help me a lot - gives me the message You are not eligible to register in any english courses. Even if my acceptance letter STATES that this is the course I HAVE to take. Interesting. But at least there are slots open there! So then I'll have fully registered for two courses, one in fall and one in spring, once that's through!
3) of course everyone was registering at the same time so the webpage was INCREDIBLY slow. I had to click the same thing a million times to get it to go through - it took me about 20 minutes to access the log-in page. And then I had to actually log in. And then enter each course AND then confirm that I wanted to add it despite it being full. All of which took many clicks. Afterwards it's all rather amusing but was a bit frustrating at the time;)

But yes! Here is a list of the courses I signed up for, mostly for my own reference.

ECON103 F01 WLS 11 Micro Economics
ECON104 S01 WLS 20 Macro Economics
FREN105 S02 WLS 7 Elementary French
HIST105 Y03 WLS 12 20th Century World History
POLI101 F01 WLS 26 Canadian Politics
POLI102 S01 Canadian Government
POLI102 TS05 (Tutorial)
POLI300B F01 WLS 5 Early Modern Political Theory
POLI300C S01 WLS 7 Post-Englightenment Political Theory
POLI311 F01 WLS 13 Politics in Europe
POLI340 S01 WLS 45 International Studies

... somehow I don't think I'm going to get into International Studies. Seeing as I'm number 45 on the waitlist and all. *strokes beard* But otherwise am incredibly bouncy about them all :D Not quite sure what to think of economics since I've never taken economics before (which is the reason I'm taking it now) but at least I'm not taking any statistics! The Canadian Politics and Canadian Government should be easy, as those are just introduction to polisci courses and in a way I've already taken that, just with the icelandic politics and government instead of Canadian. So that should be an easyish course that still gives me insight into how things are done on this side of the planet. Am crazy excited about both the Political Theory courses because stuff like that is my favourite! :D :D and just happens to be what I'm best at;) Reading what some guys a couple of hundred years ago said, understanding it and then pouring it out in a test or an essay or something = my forte. Perhaps not incredibly flattering as that's a bit parrot-like but hey, I don't care;) LOVE political theory.
Ahaha, am so incredibly excited about going back to school!! :P I love school. Am just paranoid I'll fuck it up because I'm a lazy cow. But hey, gotta try;)

I have tea. That will be all.

Except OH!! sheepgrl is going to come VISIT ME (and Katie and Kerri and Cai and Nadia too, obviously) in a couple of weeks!!! yay!!! *beams and bounces* she's going to stay with me for 4 days yaaaaaaay!!

And Kerri just called me ugly. Woe. And the cats seem to think that my laundry basket is a scratching post. They keep climbing INTO it!! Not that I understand why they would want my dirty laundry. Weird.
