Living in the future...

Is pretty awesome. I've heard, and complained, about not having things like flying cars, hands free portable computers, universal health care, etc, but if you look around and compare (technological) life today to even ten years ago (even crazier if you go back twenty) we can do all sorts of neat things.

Yes, ten years ago we had cell phones, but they have boomed and taken us to new heights. You can write a letter to someone, talk to someone, map out a route, and listen to music all at the same time while still being able to do other things.

You can hop in your car and get accurate directions to wherever you want to go.

You can take a video of something and then easily load it to a place where your entire family can watch it whenever is convenient for them. Or stream the video as well and let people watch what's going on as it's happening.

Up to the minute news 24/7, worldwide, on your phone or computer.

Search for and find jobs around the world any time day or night.

Have access to hundreds of thousands of books at home or on the go.

Find forums to share interests with like-minded folks all over the world.

Granted, there are social and cultural costs associated with each of these things (and more!), but it's still pretty cool.
